I have to have this done after Christmas as my BP is always high in clinic, with a view to starting medication. Just wondered if anyone else has had this done and how the machine works? Does it have a cuff that inflates periodically?

I've had one once a few years ago - I was always getting high readings at the GPs, but having the monitor showed it was actually white coat syndrome and my BP was fine.
It was a cuff that inflated every half hour I think (about 9 years ago now so can't quite remember), bit annoying at night so didn't really sleep that great.

thanks Deedee. how big is the device? Any tips for clothing? Did you just slip it in your coat pocket? I'm hoping that my readings are lower...

I've had it a couple of times but refused it more recently.
It's basically an electronic machine which inflates and takes a reading every x minutes, but my body is weird and the machine struggles to get readings so the cuff just gets tighter and tighter causing bruising and pain in my forearm so I've refused when they've suggested it recently. Last time I had one was about 5 years ago and I had to take it off after about 5 hours as every reading was leaving me in tears and pain.
Since having N and falling pregnant again my BP is much much lower so I've not had to argue too much!
I hope you get on with it better than me but if not make sure you take it off as I had bruising and pain in my forearm for ages after. I think they had me go to the surgery daily at different times for a week or so as a backup plan which showed white coat hypertension so they've not really pushed it again.
I felt too concious to actually go to work on the day I had it, although with long sleeves on it didn't really show that much - just a bit bulky over my arm IIRC, so probably something long sleeved but loose on your arms. They might be a bit more discreet now though.

Mine was a belt with a hip unit. I think I wore under a baggy jumper.

I had to wear one for 24 hours after the pill sent my BP sky high. Was fine, though slightly hysterical thru lectures at uni bug didn't hurt. Turns out I just have white coat syndrome.
