Following on from Ally's post about GHDs, are they the best straighteners?
I have a different make (can't remember what they are) as when I bought them I didn't want to spend a lot (don't use them much), and they had thick ones which it said would be good for long hair, plus some thin ones which I use for my fringe.
I know my hairdresser uses GHDs and it always seems to be so much better than using my own straighteners, although that might be because she does it multiple times every day!
What says MD?

I have had ghds and other makes. I have some Remington ones at the moment and there is no difference. I have very thick wavy hair too.

I had these ones which were pretty good. My hair is thick and wavy, and i used them on a daily basis. I had them about 2 years though and they stopped working, one of the plates wouldn't heat up anymore

I have my antique ghds [whisper] 11 years old in November
I use them practically everyday, I straighten my vvvv thick hair it takes at least 30 mins to straighten so they are vvv well used

I'm a loyal ghd fan. Being a hairdresser I have used others but ghd is always what I prefer, quick and v hot

I have coarse thick, frizzy hair (attractive!) and GHD's without a doubt are the best straighteners I have used. Mine are 9 years old in November. I don't use them every day as I don't have time and also my hair isn't in great condition as it is!

IMO you can't beat GHDs. Most straighteners will straighten ok but ghds keep my hair straight for the longest, my hair only needs a quick go over in the morning if I wash, dry and straighten the night before. They are expensive but worth it.

I don't care what anyone says. You can't beat GHDs. Every other cheaper option I've tried over the years (mainly what I buy for the kids mwoahahahaha) and they never straighten enough and they leave hair frizzy.

I love my GHD's and have always used them, however where i work the hairdressers use cloud nine which i have tried myself and they are also very good

GHDs allll the way! I've tried others but not a patch on my faithful GHDs (also about 11 years old) I've said to H that I don't care if we're being careful with money, if/when these straighteners break I HAVE to buy some more asap, they are a necessity not a luxury in my house!!

Thanks all, I think you might have convinced me GHD is the way to go! I've just ordered amazon vouchers with my earnings from topcashback and I'll get them from there once I get the voucher

I always said others were just as good............... until OH bought me some GHDs. Nothing comes close. They are so much better and they last longer too.

SO you were saying others were just good without having had GHDs? That's funny.
