as many of you know im a young mummy (20) and the only one of my friends with children, my closest friend will do anything for me and really cares for my babies but its our 21st this year and she wants to go to dublin for a long weekend initially i agreed as shed made it sound like one night away it has now developed into.
flight leaving at 9am so id have to leave the kids night before.
flight home at 4pm so i cant get kids to following day- 5 NIGHTS AWAY!!!!
60euros pp pernight in the hotel, flights, food and spends needed on top.
Seriously would you go?? i feel like a bad friend for really not wanting to but i just cant leave my kids that longid be miserable without them and theyd be sad without us too, and also i think its selfish expecting us to spend that kinds of money on something she chooses to do ill be lucky if i have a meal out, why should i spend all that going out for her birthday, i KNOW she wouldnt for me, theyre mr and mrs tight unless its for them, also how is my mum ment to cope with 2 more for 5 nights she only has a small house and has a 4yo and 1yo of her own, i spoke to her and shes said, for jack and lolas sake she wont have them that long and i know i cant leave them that long 1 night maybe 2 at a push, i know this will cause a rift but i think its unreasonable, and expensive, advice how can i handle this???

Laura I wouldn't or couldn't for that length of time and price.
Think honesty best policy, tell her you love her,but your beans come first, you can't justify the cash, suggest 1 or 2 night break, closer to home and tell her you really want to celebrate with her.
Great clubs round your way I'm sure,I don't know how you could contimplate clubbin-but then I am 12 yr older than you!-I have to be in bed by 11 Lol x

I think you have to be straight with your friend, just say sorry but you can't be away that long, and you can't afford to spend that kind of cash. It's not just a question of can't afford,if you're anything like me I bet there's so much more useful things you could do with the money even if you could find it.You could probably take the both of you and the children away for the same sort of price.
Maybe suggest a girls night out of something like that.TBH there's a big deal made of being 21,it's just another birthday.Celebrate, yeah, but don't go overboard.Don't just go along with it.If your friends upset by that too bad,if she's really a good friend she'll understand

i agree even the thought of leaving harvey for ONE night could at the right time (no whilst hes covering me in shreddies and milk) reduce me to tears!could she go with someone else?then you could maybe suggest she comes round to your house for a bbq or girly evening to celebrate both your birthdays with the kiddies either involved or in bed!she'll need the rest after her partying and you being a busy mommy could have a relaxing get together rather than hating every minute wishing either your kids were there or that you were painting ur front room!
if your hearts not in it it'll end up in a big row i'd guess about a day into your trip away and then that would be hard to rectify!not worth the stress honey and if shes worth her weight in gold she'll completely understand xxx

She'll understand,if she is your bessie mate and knows you well.
Oh dear, tell Andrew to spend the cash on paint/brushes etc and get cracking on living room!!!! I'd love some decoratin done here,it's not been long since we did it,but couldn't afford new sofa or carpet,so bit of a half measure-looks better but could do with further improvement!
I wouldn't know how many clubs round here, haven't been clubbing since..............i cant even remember!
Everyone really celebrates 21st,I'm ashamed to say I didnt think I went for a meal with few girlfriends-how borin am I ? Didn't even have kids!!!!!!

i wouldnt mind him putting of the living room but over the 2yrs weve lived here weve collected gorgeous furniture (next clearance shops are fab) and we brought jack a great little trading company play tabel from netmums nearly new, and my lovely couch, all i want is a new coat of paint as it got grubby toddler finger prints and a few scuff marks from re-arranging the room. and the play tables low obviously so allows more wall to be seen!!!
My mums told me to tell hannah she wont have the children because she cant do the school run with a 2 yo 1yo and 11mnth old, she doesnt drive and its a LONG walk. and she doesnt have anywhere for them to sleep! jack and charley can share but theres no room for lolly.

That's a good idea, cos it's not really fair on your ma-she's got her own lil ones to see to. I'm sure it will turn out fine x

She's clearly bothered then!!! Oh dear-I don't envy you then! I'd tell the truth then invest in ear plugs perhaps!
Or stick with what your ma said, cos that is mostly true-obviously your mum would have them but it is a lot to ask of her.
I'm going away for the night soon, big fella doesn't know-he's 40 next week and we're going to a spa hotel/swanky hotel for the night-cannot wait, but feel cheeky asking my ma to have lads,I'm a bit silly like that, she's had them 4 times in 2 and half years, and I see it as a piss take to ask-she literally has to tell us to go out so she can babysit!!!!!!
