K has been invited to go to a local nightclub Under 18's foam party night next week. She's 13. H has said no. I think he's being mean but ultimately it's his decision.
I was going to under 18s nights at 13, then I'd also go to the over 18s on a Friday night The bouncers were either very stupid or just didn't care! I used to love dancing. I'd had wicked nights. But H thinks she will get into trouble and she's not mature enough - she is mature but she gets very hypo and acts the wally to impress her mates - she's often telling us stories of her saying things to people when they are out & about and I've told her time and time again to reign the gob in as it will get her in trouble.
How old were you and would you let your 13yo go?

I was 11 when I went to an under 18's nightclub. I'd let my 13 yr old go.

Hmm I was 14 when doing under 18s clubs and we were fine. From 15 we were going to over 18s with fake ID...my parents knew but they didn't realise how much I drank oops.
Are all her friends going? Maybe it's the done thing now to let them go a bit younger I'm not sure. 13 does seen young to me but when I was that age we were still having hall discos with the host's parents hovering around haha.
The under 18's (we used to call Nappy Night) I started when I was 13. We used to get drunk before we went, I loved it.
I went to an over 18's nightclub (secretly) when I was 14 but was allowed to go when I was 15 but my mam had to pick us up at midnight and if I was stupidly drunk then I wasn't allowed to go for a while so that kept me a bit sensible.
At 13 I probably would but I would be dropping her off and picking her up.

Under 18s is for that, under 18s! Sure shed be fine, but then I don't know what these young ens get up to nowadays
I was going in proper clubs at 16. Too young now i think
H has no so there is no discussion to be had.
Just 2 friends from school and one of their cousins who are in year 9. There would be a group of them and her friend's mum was dropping and collecting.

In that case yes I would.

For an under 18 I'd let her go but I'd have parents pick them up and drop them off at 13
i was going out in Manchester to clubs from 15 nearly 16.

I was the same as you Belle went to unders on a tuesday night and then proper clubs at the weekend! I lied to my parents bout where I was because my dad was strict! I must admit I'm not sure how I'd feel if I had a daughter and she asked at 13 but I can see that it's a bit mean not to let her

I was 18 before I went out but we lived in a little town/village there was no such thing as an under 18 nights and to get to any cub on a normal night (or in fact an under 18 night)
would need lifts from parents so wasn't going to happen.
I think a 13 year old attending an under 18 night depends on the 13 year old but theoretically I think it sounds reasonable if with a group of friends and being collected/ dropped off by parents and assuming the hosting club wouldn't have any alcohol and would attempt to keep an eye out for trouble I would prob stress about it the first time and would be happier if it were 16 and under

I think he will let her next year but definitely not next week.

I went to under 18's from 13 and normal clubs for the last year of school, with my parents approval!! I was always more interested in dancing than anything else
Rob though will not let Lauren go even now!

She's go to discos though doesn't she CW.
I'm not sure, it's hard to tell until my girls are that age to see how sensible they are etc. The age I have in mind now is 14. I would be dropping off and picking up though.

There used to be U18 foam parties around when I was a nipper - 12/13 I'm talking. My parents refused to let me go to those. I first went to The Venue when I was 15; I remember going up there after Princess Di's funeral - it was a very sombre occasion! I was a regular in the pub from the age of 16. My parents had no idea.
I'm not sure if I'd let E go to an U18 party on the basis that boys of the same age are stupid and I don't know if I want her hanging around them. Double standards? Too right, but I will also never be stupid enough like my parents were for E to pull the wool over my eyes about where she's going.

She has never been to one no, just parties which he has got a bit less strict on. I don't know what the difference is really especially if you are dropping them off and collecting them
22/05/2013 at 12:13
I'm sure you've told me she goes to the disco with her mates! In a hall near where you live.
22/05/2013 at 12:19
I think based on what you said about her acting the Wally when out and having to tell her what she saying to people when out then i agree with your H and no I wouldn't let her go I

I think it depends on the child. K comes across as sensible to me, but would she be different with her pals? Would he let her until say 11pm?
