Have just noticed Very.co.uk have 50% off selected large glass jars.
Just stocked up despite having my Xmas stocking full of them - figure it'll help keep away the smell of dirty nappies!
Link for anyone interested:

See I feel I should like these, but they just give me a headache, scented candles and me don't get on

I don't get them either. I don't know why I'd want my house to smell of cinnamon or vanilla.
My step dad is allergic to the smells of perfume, flowers etc so I think that's probably why I'm not into scented candles and the like.
sorry LM, I'm sure your house smells very nice!

I don't get them tbh. It's wax in a glass jar with a massive label plastered on it. They don't exactly look very good do they?
I'd rather have a plain wax candle in a nice holder tbh. But we don't really light candles anyway, I don't see the point!

MrDD loves them, I bought him a largish Christmas Eve one for Christmas - it was the only one I liked out of all the Christmas ones.

I also don't think they smell like they are meant to, but that could just be because I really don't like the smell of scented candles iyswim. There is a baby one that smells nothing like the newborn baby smell IMO

The baby one smells of baby powder CP, I love it!
i have a yankee tart burner, its just like the oil burners with a little tea light underneath.
the tarts melt with the heat and the scent fills the room, and when the tea light burns out the wax solidifies again.
i love this because i find the jars are so big you almost become immune to the scent if you burn it over and over again.
so once the tart solidifies again, you can pop it out and replace it with another smell and change them daily if you like!

I love Yankee Candles but honestly, I think my H will divorce me if I buy any more candles lol
That said, Pink Sands is my favourite and its only £8 for a large jar. A bargain I'm not sure I can resist!!!!!

I am a convert! They actually smell really nice, look nice in the jar and last for ages. i;ve been burning mine since christmas day for about 6 hours a day as I like the smell around the house, and its still got over half left.
Horses for courses though!

I never used to be into candles full stop TBH, and the thought of spending £16 on one.. Gah why?! But then, I was given the Wedding day one, and it's gone from there. Now, I am literally obsessed.. I've just bought 2 more.. I already have 6 different "flavours" at home, plus tea lights.. *I am LM, and I am a YC addict*,
I love love having a house that smells like Xmas cupcake and Xmas cookie or strawberry buttercream - it's like someone has always been baking, when they in fact haven't and I way prefer H's aunties Fruit salad smelling one to the smell of their big, smelly (when wet) Alaskan Malimute, or the smell of Hs gun cleaning oil, or left over cooking smells (or worse still, next doors cooking!). That said, when I was pregnant, I couldn't stand the smells, had to literally remove them from the house as I could smell them even when sealed!

I ordered a couple from Littlewoods (same company but postage was free) however a message has just been put on hotukdeals saying it's a pricing error and the deal won't be honoured :-(

Oh no Ally, that'll throw a spanner into my YC collecting ways!! Fingers crossed!

Do these candles actually smell and last then rather than just smelling as you walk past them like any other scented candle?
02/01/2013 at 20:46
I love these candles! I find that with normal candles, they burn down the middle and you're left with loads of wax around the edge that just gets wasted. With Yankee candles, they seem to burn more evenly. I'm off to look at Very now!
