My H is 40 next year, and was thinking of taking him.
The tasting menu is £195, so basically £400, which I don't mind paying, but only if it is good. I don't want to go, just for the hype of it, I want it to be nice. Plus, there's wine on top (anyone looked at the wine list there, it made me want to cry), transport, and accommodation, so it's not going to be a cheap birthday present.
Will I be wasting my money, or is it genuinely nice food??? Worth going?

I've not been, I've heard great reviews about it but TBH (and I'm a foodie) I don't get the Heston Hype. I love food, I love good food even more but I don't need to be eating weird concoctions for it to be good food. I'd much rather go to Dinner at The Mandarin for example. However it's an experience and one that many a person raves about.

My H would go for the hype, I want genuinely nice food, so i'm torn.
He'd be happy with a KFC TBH, haha.

You're gonna get amazing food no doubt about that and if your H would love the hype then book it.

Do they offer a wine flight with the tasting menu?
13/12/2013 at 10:44
It doesn't mention it on the website, so I don't think so.

O I'd love to go. But I go in fit all the hype and I love food they should offer a wine flight which we have had before and its much better as the sommelier chooses one to match each course. Is he into food? Just with you saying her be happy with KFC? Maybe see if there's something closer to home?

He loves his food (and is the main cook in our house), but he likes manly portions (wouldn't think it from how skinny he is - git).
Everytime Heston is on TV, he mentions going to The Fat Duck. It's the experience he wants, I think. where as, I am more interested in the food.
I'd pay for him to go on his own for the experience, but if I am going, I want it to be worth it.

It will definitely be worth it but and if he's mentioned the Fat Duck then book it.

Well do the tasting menu then as loads of courses so Itl be worth it. V jealous I'd love to go

My brother has been and says it is amazing. I think if he's talked about going, then book it for him.

my mum and dad went, they loved it.

Was just talking about this this afternoon. We went for lunch at his pub next door! I'd love to go. It wouldn't do it for Mr R. I might take my dad for his 60th.
Sounds like he's really keen to go though!

don't forget service as well - they will add on 12.5% as well.
Waterside Inn is another option, probably not any cheaper though, but I imagine not so much as an experience as the FD

AK, my boss has been and said it was weird but one of those things you have to do.
There's a Travelodge by the station in Maidenhead, which can keep accommodation costs down!
