I'm bored with how I apply my make up. I feel as if I have been doing the same thing (and pretty much same colours) for the last 10 years. I've just been searching online.
Anyone done a class? I'd quite like to develop a few new techniques and tips. I know you can go to the make up counters in shops. However I think I'd prefer something a little more private/personal where you can give things a go too.

Maybe not what you mean then but I trained in makeup artistry. You can do it as a short course away from a beauty therapy nvq. I'm not sure where you would look for a 'lesson' as such? Maybe look at local makeup artists for one you like and ask them. They would probably do it for the price of a makeover I would have thought x

Groupon have had MAC masterclsses recently so may be worth looking there. If not most of the major make up chains will do a free session with you - Body Shop and the ones with beauty consultants in the department stores. I work with some of the beauty consultants for a cancer charity workshop and they are all lovely (once you get over how glamarous and made up they look) and they always say just come in and ask their advice, they are there to advice and not just push products on you. I've done it with Clinique before and it was a great way to try out different eye shadows xx

I've not done one (but could do with one myself!) but one of my good friends (who also did my bridal make up) does 2 hour long make up lessons which cover application techniques and colours etc ....she is Essex based too so not too far from you, and she really is lovely - here is the link to her FB page, just tell her Denise recommended her!

not sure it is as technical as you mean but I've been to both Bobbi Brown and Benefit where they give you a make over but show you what they are doing and why at the saem time. I much prefered the Bobbi Brown one and still follow the tips and advice they gave!
