Anyone on it with me???
H is back to work tonight after a week of rest days, it's been lovely having some company. We went to choose the insides of our new house. We learned its delayed which is great financially but it's not looking promising to be in before the baby arrives. We had £4.5k to spend which they gave us, and what we picked has come to £6.5k so we need to pull another £2k out our ar5e, it doesn't sound a lot but we are already to the wire.
Things has been a bit tense at home with the olds lately and H got a free night stay in a spa hotel with his car Insurance. We trotted off Friday full of beans. Enjoyed a lovely lunch, then spa then a pregnancy package. Only the next morning I woke up looking like the elephant woman. Id reacted to the products used in the facial, despite them being 100% natural. So am in lots of discomfort and it completely took the shine off the weekend. dr said I have to take piriton (yet another pill to pop this pregnancy) and that my face is burnt so expect it to peel. To add insult injury my h also treated me to some of the products they used. I did call the salon and they are going to try and reimburse me something to soften the blow.
Then welcome home to find quite a few of our bits that are in storage in a garage have got wet and are ruined, shelves and our dining room table. Possibly the sides to C's cot bed are also ruined. Gutted as we wanted to pass C's furniture to the new baby. We really can't afford to buy any more stuff.
Sorry for the gloomy post so early but I went away Friday really down, then really perked up at the spa only to have my parade well and truly pi55ed on!!!

Ooof not a good weekend at all. Piriton is usually quite fast acting I think so I hope your discomfort disappears soon.
Will the furniture dry it out? If you can dry off the cot sides it might be possible to sand them down and revarnish. I am not sure what else to say as I am sure it wont help, hope your luck turns around this week.

I am signed off work for another two weeks whilst trying to get my asthma under control and I am desperate to start back properly as I hate feeling useless. Feeling physically like i have been hit by a bus though and I am not a good patient. My eldest had a tummy bug over the weekend and the washing machine decided to break down so we had to buy a new one and rip our kitchen apart to try and get the old one out (we had hoped that it would limp on until Sept when we do our rear extension so we could re-jig our kitchen a bit and find room for a tumble drier). I now have a washing machine sitting right in the middle of my kitchen diner till the autumn and more money missing from our non existent savings. Aaaargh. 2013 has been entirely rubbish so far.
Munchkin - sorry you are having a bad time. All seems to come at once doesn't it? On the house is there anyway you could delay some of the extras rather than having to do it all at once?
Bugger about the facial products too - bet it feels like the straw that broke the camels back. Can you do an insurance claim for the ruined furniture at all or is your excess too much?
*hands around chocolate and an early doors gin and tonic*

Aw Munchkin, you can only buy what you can afford dude, what do you need? Can we help you look for bargains? I would be gutted about the cot bed as well, Liam's wardrobes and drawers got wrecked when we had them in storage. I 2nd piriton for your allergic reaction.
RS, poor you as well, hope it gets under control. A washing machine would do my head in. You have my sympathies

Blooming heck Munchkin! One thing after another for you lately isn't it. Hope the Spa do manage to refund some moneys for you, and just get going with the piriton. Maybe some sudocrem of an night time too to help, it's magic is that stuff.
Do you really need the extra £2k worth of stuff for the house - what was it for? Can you pull back somewhere else instead?

Oh M, I hope you can get some money back from the spa. Pj xx

Ah nuts to all that Munchkin. Can you claim for any of it on insurance? *Clutching at straws* At least you won't have to fork out £200 for a facial peel! Poor woman
I am on the MINOS bench. C has been poorly over the weekend, had a temperature on and off yesterday. Woke up and he was 39.8 so decided not to risk taking him into nursery, calpol's worked it's magic and now he's being babysat by Toy Story 2 whilst I attempt to get some work done.

Thanks ladies xxx I'm yet to pluck up the energy to speak to the spa again. Re the house, the money has gone on carpets, tiles, flooring, a bathroom and kitchen so can't really scrape that back any further. We could have had cheaper tiles but its a new build so whats the point in moving in and wanting to rip it all out. It will cost more than 2k to re do the plastering and tiling after so may as well spend now and have it exactly how we want it. Gutting but practical.

Munchkin, odd question but would it be cheaper to get all the extra work done independently? I know when my in-laws had a new house and they ended up paying through the nose for crap carpets etc when it would have been cheaper and better quality if they'd sorted it themselves rather than through the developer (my in laws didn't because they didn't want the hassle). Just a thought.

Possibly....it's a tricky one as we wanted the bathrooms half tiled rather than just splash backs, so it's easier to do it from the off. Carpets etc we have already gone for the cheapest options as you quite rightly say they are all crap lol. Xxxx

Ah munchkin, that's a lot to happen in a few days love
hope your face calms down and they Reimburse you.
Quite a good idea re the carpets etc

Robin, hope you feel much better soon too x

Ooo chick, that all sounds sh*t.
Not ideal but you can have G's cot if you want it? xx

H has just got back from our storage garage and we have rescued the cot it seems to be ok. Spoke to the spa and as my skin tests didnt react to the products I bought they wot isse a refund as I can use them, even though I'm not keen. To be fair at the time the therapist and the facial were out of this world. I really enjoyed it so I'm not out to get any money back for service. They spa are taking it more seriously than I thought they would and have suggested I go again to get some skin tests done on the other products used in the facial to try and pin point it. I live 45 mins away so it's not really practical to do that but their attitude has been really good. I'm just unlucky with my sensitive skin. I hope the boys don't inherit it :-(
