Just needing to get ourselves organised ready for Ethan's start in September.
So where do you find does best quality uniform? Happy for supermarkets or anywhere - would rather not spend the earth. And how many do you buy of everything?

I've bought from all the supermarkets but the M&S stuff is by far better quality. Yes it's a bit more money but I think it's worth it. The Asda stuff is cr@p IMO but it is very cheap -it's all gone bobbly which annoys me.
The Tesco stuff is fine.
The Sainsburys cardigans are a cute style and two for £12, which I thought was very good.
I've got 2 skirts 2 trousers 7 polos and 3 cardigans/jumpers.

I get C the Teflon coated trousers from Asda. I also buy his polo shirts from there, good quality, for little money.
I have found they wash and wear really well. I have bought 4 pairs.

I find M&S polo shirts the best. I haven't shopped for trousers for J yet but will probably try Asda and M&S. I buy the jumpers from the school. Polo shirts x 6, trousers x 3, jumpers x 3.

I buy from M&S when they have their 20% off deals.
For girls - I recommend getting pinafores rather than skirts as it keeps the polo shirts cleaner for longer.
I think at least 6 polo shirts - but I don't have tumble dryer and need to allow time for drying in the winter. We have 4 jumpers/cardigans.

I like Sainsburys and Matalan for school uniform. Trousers £3 a pair and have not gone bobbly or anything, will be able to pass them on to F's younger sister. I've bought 3 cardigans from the school, 3 x skirts, 2 x trousers, 6 polo shirts, 6 x tights, 2 summer dresses, 1 grey pinafore dress.

Iv got L some socks from asda and gym shorts too.
Iv got trousers, school shorts and polos from debenhans
Gym shoes from next and keeping an eye for a clarkes sale for shoes
Winter coat from last years next sale.
This year I got 2 sweatshirts with the logo and just 2 red sweatshirts from asda as he was in nursery and the quality was shocking so won't be doing that again

Can't comment on the quality, but C's uniform has so far been bought from Sainsbury's when they had their 25% off clothes, and Tesco using the double up clubcard vouchers. I bought a winter coat last year that was massive on him then from Zulily so that was also pretty cheap and should just about be the right size now! I've been thinking about getting a logo sweatshirt, although he doesn't need to have one - it seems silly spending about £10 on one jumper when you can get two for £3-4!
Shoes will be Clarks, he doesn't start until 9th September so I'll go the first week of September when all the schools have gone back to get those - his feet have hardly grown in the last 8 months so it would be just my luck to buy them early and his feet to suddenly grow! Also need wellies, indoor plimsols and outdoor PE shoes that will all have to be left there!
So far I've got:
3 x trousers (plus another 2 pairs in bigger size I bought first, but are way too big so will save until he's grown)
6 x polo shirts (packs of 3 - one pack white, and one pack blue)
2 x jumpers
2 x PE shorts
2 x white t-shirts for PE
1 x jogging trousers and top for outdoor PE
1 x winter coat
Struggling to work out what else I need, and how much else really.

Asda. It's cheap but it lasts, plus Teflon coated shorts and trousers are a godsend.
2 x shorts
4 x trousers (boys go through trouser knees surprisingly easily)
4 x polo shirts
4 x short sleeve shirts
14 pairs of socks (which are regularly eaten by the sock monster)
2 x school jumpers
1 x rain coat
1 x school sun cap
2 of everything PE related - but these get washed once ever half term
Clarks shoes from the Outlet centre. They normally have a sale which includes school shoes mid August.

I prefer M&S for uniform, it washses well and still looks good at the end of the year, everything but Lauren's Blazer comes from there. the blazer has to come from the school shop and she has new one every year. Shoes were clarks up to senior school adn they are now kickers

I was a bit irritated at having to buy logo sweatshirts at £10 each but they've lasted two school years so I feel I've definitely had my money's worth out of them.
In reception they do seem to spend a lot of time sitting on the floor which means boys go through their trousers fast. My daughter's school the girls are supposed to wear white tights but there's been quite a lot of ignoring this as they got filthy from sitting on the floor.

M&S here, the quality seemed much better than the supermarkets and when they had the 20% off were very similar prices. I have gone for
4 x polo shirts (2 in current size, 2 in bigger size as emergency back up)
4 x pinafores (as above)
1 x all in one pinafore for PE days to make changing easier
2 x logo cardigans
The PE kit has come as a bit of a shock :-
black PE shorts
black jogging bottoms
black hooded cardigan

Having spent 6 years buying m&s I have recently tried sainsburys and love it, same good quality but cheaper.

Cedar can't believe white tights are part of the uniform! What a nightmare for keeping clean!
10/07/2013 at 15:15
Thanks ladies - think I'll look for an m&s or sainsburys event. I can't get all his uniform yet as his school place isn't sorted, but I can get tops and trousers.
May be a stupid question, but do trousers come in age 3-4 or smaller. Ethan is only 4 this week, and is still in age 2-3 trousers as he's very skinny. I wonder if I'll get any to fit!
10/07/2013 at 15:19
Yes, definitely come in 3-4 as that's what C has - the 4-5 are way too big on him!
