S starts school in September and still can't do a good job by himself! Any tips?

Have you tried toddler wipes?

C can't properly either - we get him to do one wipe himself, which is what they do at nursery too, then finish him off. Would be interested in tips too.
Belle - we use toddler wipes, but guess they won't have them at school.

No but I'm thinking get him wiping properly with those as a start and he will soon learn to get right in there if needs be. I guess it's just a case of showing them to pull a bum cheek open to help if they need to.

Get used to skiddy pants. I think a lot of mums worry about the same thing.
I never wiped A's bum for her, I just showed her how to. Is that bad? I'm wondering if her continual constipation helped there though, it wasn't that messy (tmi)

L's is never messy, he has proper solid poos.

Liam is not too bad, but still has the odd marks. My neighbours 7 year old still has skiddy marks on her pants sometimes her mum was telling me

Yup we are having this issue too. We are trying to teach her to keep wiping till the paper is clean but then to run the risk of most of the roll ending up in the loo!! She starts school in Sept and they arent allowed to wipe bums so if they are really mucky parents are called to collect them!!

Don't fret. Lots of kids aren't bum wiping experts by the time they start school, and ours let them take in wipes if they needed them. You still have a couple of months to hone his technique!

Lol, all this skiddy pants talk is making me chuckle! Thanks all, shall persevere and see how we get on with toddler wipes. He seems to miss the target zone usually. This morning I got a 'mummy I finished my poo and it's runny so I can't wipe myself!' Oh great, just what I want at 6am!

We are trying to get J to do this, he also starts school in Sept. We use wipes, I'll give him a couple and tell him to wipe a few times, then give him more wipes and tell him to do it again the I'll check and finish if needed. I've told him he needs to keep wiping until the wipes are clean.

We had this problem when F started school a couple of years ago as she was late potty training so she definitely needed help with bum wiping! I just told her to do her best and not to worry if she came home with skiddy pants, I wouldn't be cross. Unfortunately she had a few months when she first started school where she wouldn't go for a poo on the toilet at school, had a few accidents in her pants etc. Thankfully she finally sorted herself out although occasionally now she'll come home with slightly marked pants but she's only 5.

B could wipe his bum but would have accidents because of his bowle problems, he was mortified but nobody made a fuss and it isn't an issue, there will probably be some that are barely toilet trained so skiddy pants is no worry honestly
