I need to get my wedding ring resized (made bigger) it is yellow gold, but does anyone know if it can be made into white gold? Ie, either melted down and white gold added? or would I be better buying a new ring?

from a quick google, think it can be dipped but obviously that will wear in time

White gold is in fact yellow gold with a white metal (rhodium, I believe) plating. So yes, it should be possible. Like Twink said, the plating wears away over time and it will need 're-dipping' around once a year to keep the white colour.

yes you can have it rhodium plated which looks like white gold. You'll have to have it redone every so often as it'll go yellowish but its not too expensive. x

Just spoke to H (he's a jeweller) and like EES they can rhodium plate it, but it won't be quite the same as being a white gold ring since the metal underneath is still yellow gold. Although white gold does wear and need replating, it's not as yellow as yellow gold.
