After readiing Pingus link, I was wondering what car seat you have for your 3 year old? Liam is still in http://www.maxi-cosi.co.uk/gb-en/products/car-seats/toddler/priori-xp.aspx
He is 17.5 KG at the moment

Jacob is nearly 3 and is under 30lb so not more than 14kg or so. He is in a Graco Nautilus with 5 point harness and will be in that for some time to come.

C was in a Besafe Izi Combi rearfacing seat in both cars until a few months ago - we got the Britax Kidfix for MrDD's car after it got hit in the back (C was about 3y7m, and 15.5kg), then replaced mine for the same a couple of months later.
He fits perfectly fine in it height wise since it can be adjusted to the correct height for him. As I just mentioned on that other thread I wonder if the child was in a booster cushion rather than a HBB.

I have been reading about the Britax ones. Is that the one that still has the 5 point harness, but you change it as they get older?
01/05/2013 at 13:27
No, this is the stage 2-3 one that we've got. They do do a 1-2-3 one (Britax evolva) but I really wanted Isofix so went for the Kidfix instead.

I haven't got isofix in my car. Do you think that that the 1-2-3 would be ok?
01/05/2013 at 13:30
Absolutely, Jelly Baby has one I think and recommended it when I was looking for one - if it had got isofix I probably would have got one. There's also the non-isofix version of what we've got which my parents have bought.

THanks DeeDee, I will have a look.
Margot, so sorry, I never noticed your reply there originally, I will have a look at that one as well x

Lou is still in the XP too, need to weigh him and go Kiddicare to see what they have. The Britax Evolva 123 is on offer for £99.

Cool, thanks, I am going to wait until I get back from hols, but I think that is what I will go for

We're taking the car for it to be fitted cos we have a stage 3 seat already but it doesn't sit well in the seats so need a new one.

Do you have 2 cars?

Luke moved into a high back booster at 4 years old weighing 15kg. Not sure if that's right but the straps on the previous maxi cosi XP were at the highest point and starting underneath his shoulders so not sitting correctly. the seat was also too narrow at his shoulders.

Yeah, well about 7 atm but we tend to normally have 2.

Zoe is in a Britax Evolva. She was rear facing in a BeSafe Izi Combifix but grew out of it height wise before she was 15kg. This meant that we needed a seat that would half a 5 point harness but also be the height of a HBB. The evolva is perfect - she is still in the 5 point harness at 4yrs 3 mths as she still isn't 18kg (the max weight for the harness). I have however agreed that we will convert it in to a HBB for when she starts school in September.

We have a Cybex Pallas in both cars. He no longer uses the impact cushion just the normal seat belt but after reading this not sure if I should go back to using it. Have no idea what he weighs but heavier than (and the same height) as his 4yr old cousin. stopped using the cushion because it was a real tight squeeze to get him clipped in.

We have Recarro young sport for both our boys
02/05/2013 at 08:36
So there is no point in me getting that then JB is there, he is coming up for 18kg now and I still wanted him in the harness.
02/05/2013 at 08:39
There is only 1 seat on the market that keeps them in the harness over 18kg and it is a britax rear facing seat so an guessing that isn't going to be a route you want to go. I'm afraida from 18kg the only option is a hbb.
