just wondered if anyone recommended any particular sites for these, as a school teacher I might be able to make use of these as a first family get away, just wondered if there would any particular camps that were good? I used to be a pontins bluecoat, and know how old those sites were getting.....

Only advice from me is what you already know, avoid Pontins! We left our holiday there early as it was so cold in our ancient chalet that we couldn't get comfortable. We've been to lots of Parkdean and Park Resorts sites and enjoyed them all. Do check the price of all the add ons though, as the initial price advertised is not always the final price.

We've only ever used them for Park Resorts in the Isle of Wight but can't complain for the price you actually pay. We've always gone basic as we are never in the van itself only to sleep (or eat Chinese whilst very very drunk!)

I liked Marton Mere at Blackpool, wasn't too keen on the one at Fleetwood, they were both Haven, so loads for LO's. Southerness is nice (think its Parkdean), but not so much in the way of entertainment. Also been to Saltcoats which was ok

We've stayed at two park dean resorts in Dorset and liked both, one was only 15 minutes from Bournemouth too which is a lovely beach and fun place to go. Our first holiday we extended the days to an extra 2 I think making it 5 day break we paid £140 for 4adults and 1 child in a log cabin type chalet, was lovely

We've stayed at a couple of Haven parks in the mail deals, Littlesea and Devon cliffs they are fab and their equivalent of 5* holiday parks. If you intend to book a caravan and its early or late season I'd advise you to book one with heating in the rooms or take heaters with you, caravans are soooo cold at night.

Primrose valley in Scarborough is good and the surrounding area is nice x

We had a lovely time at Searles Leisure Resort in Norfolk. Caravans were lovely and Hunstanton is a pleasant sea side resort and very close to Sandringham if you fancy a visit x

We went to Doniford Bay in Somerset (Haven). The kids loved it and are desperate to go back!

We've stayed on a few park resorts sites with the sun deals and they've been ok- the nodes point isle of wight site was lovely as a site. We only use it for a base but as a basic place to wash and sleep it's been a good deal and given us a very cheap break we wouldnt have had otherwise.
