Has anyone cooked a joint if meat in the slow cooker, like beef? Do you also put in the potatoes and do you have to cover the meat with anything or will it be ok with its own juices that come out? I've never cooked a joint in the slow cooker before

I often have and have just bunged the joint in on its own or combined it with other stuff.

I just throw it in, no liquid or anything. I sometimes through a few carrots, onion etc in to make a nice stock from the jiuces

I agree with Morph; bung it in with whetever spices/herbs/veggies that you normally would.
