What would you cook and why?
I want to do something nice for my H this weekend as he has been working super hard recently, so was going to cook him a lovely meal but unsure what to cook...inspire me!

H does most of the cooking in our house, but if I'm cooking something nice for him I go for either steak, or duck breast with dauphinoise potatoes & tenderstem brocolli.

What about a lovely start from scratch pasta meal, that way you can pack it out with treats like olives, pizza bread, complimenting wine etc?

My OH fav meal is:
starter: garlic bread with cheese
Main: steak, chips, tobacco onions & pepper sauce
Desert: chocolate cake with lots of ice cream

He doesnt reallt eat a great deal of pasta, although I would eat that like a shot.
STeak seems so boring, and I am sure I made that last time - duck sounds good though!
Sasasi - Hes not a chocolate person either, but dessert is easy as he adores cheesecake!
My H isn't fussy really. Meat? Good. Spuds? Good. Beer? Good.

What about something like Greek lamb??

hubs and i probably split cooking 50/50. If i was going to treat him i'd probably to a starter of scallops or italian meats. Then we'd have steak. He's not a big dessert fan really.

Lol. Might just give him wine and me! lol x

Now that's my H's idea of a night in...well not you but you know what I mean Then instead of rolling over and having a *** like they do in the movies, he rolls over and orders a curry

My h is easily pleased with good and eats anything!
It depends what you want really. You could have Spanish meats and cheeses then paella, lots of buffet type bits then a curry???
Our current favourite in this house is South Indian fish curry with tomato and coconut chutney! H and boys wolf it up, its a hairy dieters recipie but I add in more prawns and calamari.
If h and I were having a nice tea just the 2 of us I'd do fish so maybe trout/snapper baked in a bag served with roast veg and bulgar wheat or Cous Cous
We aren't big in desserts I eat them but can't make them so I'd buy something. Although I can make poached pears in wine with white choc sauce but that's about as far as my dessert making goes

What's tobacco onions?

My first thought for my H would be to make a soup for starter, followed by steak for main and then I'd probably make his favourite apple crumble.
If I wanted to try to be really fancy I'd try something along the lines of a Crostini di funghi (toasted bread with a mushroom topping) or perhaps something with quails eggs as I know he likes those. For a main I'd probably go for monkfish and chorizo served with green beans and roasted new potatoes.

Belle - My H is cut from that cloth too! In fact instead of asking what's for tes he usually asks what meat are we having.

Tobacco onions are crispy battered onions like these : uktv.co.uk/.../514005
Think they are an Irish thing! Well tasty but I always buy them from local butcher, I wouldnt be bothered making them!

Always a steak for my H Or he likes a good mixed grill if we go out but I'd never make one myself!
What about a curry from scratch or duck does sound good ( I've never cooked duck though) .

my husband's favs are home made meatballs in tomato sauce and spagetti, steak and chips, Thai green curry or gammon eggs and chips.

My H loves my lasagne and chocolate cake, or apple pie ot lemon merangue. But he wouldn't say no to anything really.

I always go with steak tbh how're I've been nagged recently for a gammon joint (yuk). H would also appreciate homemade burgers, and I'm thinking of a lamb shank for his birthday as some thing different.. beef Wellington also a bit different?
