For some reason people feel it is appropriate to comment on my shopping. I don't drink alcohol so buy bottles of pop as my 'drink' so often have a lot of Pepsi Max in my trolley and several people have commnted 'ooo having a party?'. Erm no. I wouldn't look at someones trolley see several bottles of alcohol and say 'ooo havign a party?' so why do I get it?
Ex used to say that I attracted nutters and that possibly explaisn a lot in soooo many ways!

I always have a look in the trolley or at the till and feel quite satisfied if their shopping has more unhealthy rubbish than mine! I would never actually comment out loud though.

I never would (but then I wouldn't say boo to a goose most of the time, unless I'd had a few bottles of wine!), who knows the reasons people might be buying certain foods - offers, parties, shopping for others - but I do worry what people might think of what's in my trolley - often there's quite a few bottles of pepsi max too (stop talking about pespi max btw!!) as MrDD drinks it all the time so we stock up when it's on offer.

Did you know Deedee that B&M stores always sell Pepsi Max for 99p? So I go there and buy a load of bottles or I buy a load elsewhere if it is cheaper!
28/11/2012 at 10:31
Never heard of B&M stores. Tesco had it for 89p I think it was last week - I can't be bothered to cart C round more shops than I need to just pick it up if it's on offer where ever we are, otherwise he gets own brand cheapo stuff instead

I'd never comment, I'm in my own little world when I go shopping. I'm sure people think oh here comes the loony bin...I'm always talking to Louie, singing songs, losing my list so I have to retrace my steps...shopping is fun with me!

I should've said that I do my weekly shop online because I hate going to the supermarket. I find the supermarket too stressful and, as Deedee said, I do worry about what people think about when they see what's in my trolley!
28/11/2012 at 10:41
I wouldn't comment but I do compare trolley contents and see how much junk I buy compared to others- I'm always shocked at how much the person in front of me spends- they always look like they have so much for what they spend- I think I have 'bargain repellant' all around me

I'm always in my own world as well. Too busy trying to keep N entertained. Even if I did look, I don't think I would comment.

I don't ever comment or receive comments, I guess my shopping must be incredibly boring. I do however nose in everyone else's shopping and always look to see what the person in front of me has spent - unfortunately J has picked his up and knows his numbers so well that when we were in Sainsbury's a few weeks ago he shouted out "Two hundred eight nine!!! Blimey that's a lot!!" cue mad coughing from H and I and a very red checkout assistant.

I always enjoy looking at other peoples eating habits but never comment. I always get to M&S early after the school run on a Thursday so conveniently bag all of the reduced meat and good food to freeze and I get glares from shoppers that have missed out or some just say "ooh you got some bargains there" I just smile politely but wish they would butt out of my shopping basket!

God no, how rude! (I do look, and sometimes mentally judge though. ) I always find it really sad when you see elderly people with a trolley full of dinners for one.
28/11/2012 at 14:12
Same as SG, I nosey and mentally judge!!
28/11/2012 at 14:23
I don't, but I do look to see what others have bought. And would make comment to Mr GB to have a look if I thought it was odd for any reason.
People have commented to me about my trolley but I've never thought of it as rude. It's just making conversation

I might comment in my head but never out loud! We shop on line so any supermarket trips are for specific things - which means I probably have odd items in the trolley, but no-one has ever commented. Today for example I had icing sugar and four bags of sweets, as I was decorating my christmas cakes and the sweets are for our childsmile shoeboxes - but it just looks very unhealthy!

I would never comment, but both me and H are guilty of judging a trolley. If we see someone with a trolley full of junk, I do a little'tut' in my head. I know it's awful isn't it

I always have a look but would never say out load.
My teenage sister used to work on the checkout at Waitrose and I would've loved to have been her for a day as I was shocked to hear how much people could spend on food shopping in one go! I'd be quizzing the customers on their purchases - "making lasagne tonight?"..."Ohh I love yorkshire puddings too"

I'm never sure whether I like the cashier chatting to me because it likes at the hairdressers its a person that you have never met before thrown into a social situation where you ahev to talk to each other but what about?
I normally end up talking about how heavy cat litter is

I hate small talk with strangers, I'm really bad at it too.
