I have dyed my own hair for around 18 years (my Mum let me use toners from when I was around 10/11)
They are all easy to use, like stupidly easy. I use Schwarzkopf.
Vaseline around hairline and on ears, stops the dye staining.

I colour my own hair, I only use semi permanents though, as I prefer the gloss it gives my hair. I only have a few grey hairs. I like clairol , I think that's what I use!

I colour mine at home all the time, It's very easy too do and do it by myself and just get H to check the back, I use Olia brand I find it doesn't smell of chemicals and covers my grey's the best for me.

I have just started colouring mine again after about a 10 year break. I'm not sure if I left it on too long though because it came out a fair bit darker than I expected..
very easy to use though. I don't have a preference on brand just yet, but have just used a casting creme gloss (semi-permanent) which was alright apart from the darkness thing

AR, I go to hairdresser, but the colour has come out different during pregnancy, last time it lightened much more than usual and she had to put a toner on it, so beware and def do a strand test first!

Oh yes just noticed your ticker - def do a strand test and a patch test on your skin in case of serious reaction x

Also make sure the strand has some grey in it. I have to leave mine on for the longest time to get coverage in the grey. I use Botanics semi permanent as it fades out rather than grows out.

AR what colour are you naturally? As I can never tell from your pics! I have tried to dye my hair a few times, I'm dark blonde naturally and it always goes a bit orangy / brassy. I think its hard to get a good colour on lighter hair, but darker hair should be easier? I just had my highlights done finally, my cousins wife has a salon at home and charged me £40 for a half head and cut. I also got my hair done at the local college once, could you do that? Its so much cheaper!
