We have never leased cars, always brought them we don't owe anything on them they are paid for. Would we be mad to sell one, get about £5k back and lease a car? I know we would then have a monthly payment going out for it and lots of people seem to lease cars, just wondered if anyone here does and if its worth it?

Yes i do. Buying new is now a false economy you lose so much in depreciation as soon as you drive off the fofecourt. My H is in the car trade and is forever buying and selling motors so we always have run arounds around us but for our main family car we both wanted something a bit nicer. I was earning good money before ML so it made sense. A few hundred out a month for an almost new car. Warranty services tax included. No brainer really. You can get some really good deals on finance atm, i saw Mercedes offer ML sports for about 400 a month! a girl i work with ia gettinf the new Citroen DS3 sport next week for under 200 per month! Id dedinitely look into it.

If you arent fussed on the car you get really look around and get as muxh as you can from the dealer. At least 3 yrs serving, 1yr tax and 1 yr inaurance are standard.

I personally would never ever lease a car. If I'm going to spend £300 a month I want to own it. I also don't want to be scared of every prang or that I'm putting on too many miles for my lease. I also find it hilarious when friends look down on my car and compare it to their brand new BMW.. The difference is my car is mine and I can afford it. It's not just for show. Though I know many people will disagree with that one.

Ooh yoyo this is something we'd been considering doing too, not really looked into it though. Bell do you mind if I ask a few questions? Do you just go to a normal dealership? Is a three year lease standard?

LM we have the option to own ours at the end of the term by paying a set figure but we always upgrade for a newer model. And we do own cars just not the flash one lol we currently own 4 corsas so if anyone is after a cheap motor give me a shout!
Weekender we went with Mercedes but generally yes any main dealer so vw audi group citroen ford etc will all have options. Just nip in one day test drive a few and go through your options.

Mine is a company lease car, and I pay out of my salary every month for it. It is so much less hassle for me than owning a car .. bu tthen I get all tax, insurance, servicing and repairs for nothing, so I know that my monthly outgoing is fixed.

Cheers belle I'm going to look at it further, I will hopefully need a bigger car soon if mythical number 2 comes along but would probably want to change it after a few years, so thismay be the way to do it esp as there's probably some value left in my current car that could go towards payments. Oh I want to go car shopping now!

we do , hubby works for ford and we get fab discounts. so we never own it, but then we also get a new car every year. and its a bit like renting a house in the fact that when it goes wrong its not my problem.
have you ever had that moment when you get in your car and it doesn't start, you have that big deep dread in your stomach with you mind wondering how much this is going to cost????
i haven't , becasue when it happens i give it back and they supply me with a courtesy car! i never tax, mot, service a car, i love it!
