I had one of these in my house for nearly 3 hours today. THREE HOURS.
If you have a composite front door can you tell me how much you paid? He started off at £2750 for one, got it down to £1200 by the end plus £400 for fitting. Tried to get me to sign up to an iffy finance deal as well. I don't know why they don't just send you a price list and be done with it, the relentless sales patter puts me off completely!

Round here they were doing a deal for £995 all in! That's with a big glazing company x

I can't bear the way they do their 'quotes'

Well it went from being £16k to £10k, then from £10k to £8k (I want a porch building as well, the door was £1200 as part of that quote). But the £8k quote is only valid until...2 minutes ago. How can you seriously HALVE the price you initially quote and not look like a berk in the process?! Actually he was a really nice guy, I am just immune to sales patter.

We had one round a little while ago and what annoys me is he worked it all out In His head, nothing was broken down for us to see and he went that's the bottom bottom price I can do. Then as we were talking a bit further he was like il take another 10% just because I feel like it! They just try their luck

I would never ever have a "big" company round to quote ever again!!! When we bought our 1st house years ago we had one round and he stayed for about 4 hours!!! Wouldn't give a set price, did the old "ring my manager" rubbish etc etc in the end I went to bed and told my husband to tell him to get out. Even if they'd then quoted £500 I would have told them to stick it! I have never ever known anything like it - was like watching the dodgy hidden tradesman shows on tv! We ended up getting some smaller independent companies to quote and they literally measured up, posted us a quote and that was it! What a difference!!

No idea as we got all our windows done at the same time. However we purposely didn't phone any big companies as I'd heard so much about them refusing to leave. The local companies that came round were lovely and didn't put any pressure on.

WEES said about big companies! We had one guy in once who said he couldn't leave until his manager told him he could! I was standing with the door open telling him I was allowing him to go and he'd better go soon!
We had a composite door supplied and fitted in September cost us about £780 from a local independent firm.

Are any of you in Kent? If so is there a company you would recommend?
