I've not been on for ages! Have had to go back to the UK to empty our house as we sold it and the buyers want to be in next week! I also needed to take some time away to think about Es school issue and being at my parents really helped. My sister is a reception teacher and gave us some good advice so based on that, I returned to Dubai and arranged a meeting with the schools Principal. I basically told her that I refused to move E out of the school and wanted her moved into another class (gave the name of the teacher I wanted her to be with as I just know she is a great teacher), but they completely refused. So I told them they would work hard to support us, E and her teacher to get through the daily tantrums and we would use reward charts, visual timetables, etc. They clearly didn't like it and continued talking about therapy! I firmly said it was not going to happen unless my way hadn't improved her behaviour by the end of the term so they finally agreed.
Turned out that the Principal and Es teacher have known each other for years- close family friends- which I felt was not very objective of the head but hay ho. I spoke to the teacher I wanted E moved to later that morning and she said I could move her into her class. She made arrangements for it to happen straight away too. E had no problem going into her new class on Monday morning and utterly adores her and the TA! She literally runs into hug her and everyday tells me Mrs R is the best teacher The best part. E has not had a single tantrum since she went into the class. Her teacher can't get over how well she listens to instructions, encourages the other children to tidy up and put toys away after each session, never hits or snatches, etc, etc, etc
BUT the Principal is Still insisting she has an assessment We are going ahead with it and I'm hoping it'll put an end to this nonsense!

Was that is a good update. Sounds like the principal and other teacher are incompetent. What did your sister say about it?

Sounds brilliant, must be such a weight off your mind knowing she's getting on so much better with the new teacher. Hope it continues and the principal stops on at you about an assessment xx

Well done. Hopefully the assessment will recognise normal three year old behaviour - sometimes its good, sometimes its not.

Really pleased to hear she has now moved class and with a better teacher. X

That's great that they've moved her and she's behaving and enjoying school, which is the way it should be at her age, I bet its a huge relief for you x

PB- my sister basically said she has 4/5 year olds tantruming everyday and it's up to her to deal with it! She suggested standing my ground and encouraging them to use visual aids to support E. I'm guessing she doesn't need them after all though!
I'm so relieved, she's my happy little Ella Bella again!
