FIL has booked us and BIL and his family in for a photo session at a studio as he wants family photos for MIL for Christmas. I'm not impressed, I hate having my photo taken and TBH I don't really like staged family photos. I much prefer natural ones like when on holiday or at a party etc.
I love studio ones of the kids as they are natural in front of the camera but they aren't for me but I suppose we have to grin and bare it.
So what do we wear? Do we dress up? Wear dressy/casual clothes? I'm clueless when it comes to these type of photos.

We had a photoshoot at the beginning of the year, they suggested we wore jeans and white tops, and also had a change of clothes, maybe with colours that would match the decor of where the photos where to be put - we just changed our tops, and also C's trousers. These are what we wore if you want ideas:

We had a shoot at the start of this year, they sugested brightly coloured/ coloured cothes for us and little one as they shoot against a white background so you then stand out nicely. I hate having my Photo taken (we had very few formal photos for our wedding even) but it was gret these people want to take a good photo so they give good direction will get you t interact with kids each other etc.
We also took a change of clothes as deedee said

We have one in December and I've wondered the same! The photographer has suggested either jeans and black or white tees like DDs or block colours that compliment each other.

I have a page on this www.emmalouisephoto.com/what-to-wear-to-your-photoshoot and a Pinterest Board www.pinterest.com/.../what-to-wear
Find out what type of background they'll be using - white, black, coloured? What do you want to do with the photos afterwards? Some people colour code their outfits to the room they're putting them in.

Lovely photos Deedee.
Sshh thanks for that. So I'm thinking dark denim jeans, I've got a cream 3/4 sleeved blouse I could wear, would that look ok with a white background? Other than the blouse I don't have anything with sleeves apart from daytime tops.
E has a top similar to this http://www.next.co.uk/X52642s9#852288X52 that she could wear with dark jeans.
J has some beige chinos or burgundy chinos he could wear with a denim shirt, would that work for him?
H only really wears designer polo shirt but has a range of colours - white, navy, bring pink, light blue, green, burgundy???

When I had the boys done they both wore jeans and different blue striped tops. I like the uniformed look of matching, like Deedee's with the white tops.

Your outfit sounds fine SW, as does J's - I'd take both sets of chinos for him to mix it up a bit. As it seems you have blue/burgundy running through yours and the kids outfits take the blue/burgundy tops for your H. You'll all compliment each other but you're not too matchy-matchy, if that makes sense - like this family www.pinterest.com/.../132574782753166206
