Does your H give you house keeping if you are a sahm? My mum still gets it, I think it's quite old fashioned and my mum just rinses my poor father!

H treats his money as 'our' money which is nice. when we first moved in together I would ask him if I could buy things or I would buy N or myself clothes from my account which has a little money going in each month and he stopped me. He doesn't give me housekeeping. My dad does with my mum though and I have to say I think it's very patronising and takes the piss a bit when he spends ridiculous amounts on cameras as other gadgets and my mum is stashing away any little amount for some new clothes.

No, no housekeeping here. My parents used to do it that way too. We have a joint account that H's wages get paid in to. £100 a month goes directly into his own account so he has his "own" money. Otherwise anything we want or spend just comes out the joint account. I suppose I'm a by cheeky in a way as my child benefit goes in to y own account, as does my quidco and eBay money....
I guess it's the age old what's his is mine and whats mine is mine.
Equally though H does tend to have the odd blow out...and I mean blow out so that can be infuriating for me sometimes as I know something's coming up that we need x for and then h spunks it. But there we go.

See we have a joint account and two cards.
LB my mum has her own money, she works she also takes my dads for anything she wants to buy and she gets him to pay her horses yard fees! She's cheeky but he's done it for so long now.
I do like the idea of being able to put some money of my own into an account and then I can prepare better for birthdays and Christmas! I may suggest a little allowance, it might even help us save as I'm the I ly one that will spend the money!

My mum has housekeeping off my dad. I'm a SAHM and we just have a joint account that I can use. H is quite tight when it comes to me spending money on myself though but he's just extra careful with money which can be a pain but because of this we are mortgage free and have no debts which I'm very grateful for.

Yes he does. I have my own bank account that he pays my 'allowance' into. We cannot have a joint account over here as H moved over and opened it before I arrived (so backwards). I hate it but equally, it means I don't overspend and generally stick to a budget.
It's our money anyway. I put a lot of money into our house and have had a lot of money saved up over the years to help us out over here.

H puts money into my account each payday.
If I want/need more, then I ask for more.
We don't have a joint account, never liked the idea of them. All bills/food etc comes out of H's account. The money he gives me, is for me to spend on what I want.

Mortgage free is a huge bonus Mossy! My H spends but he would have a lot more if it wasn't for me! Ha ha
WS I think it may help me be a bit more careful when it comes to spending.
I do lots of money on petrol because I just don't think about the money that it costs to get somewhere

Sounds good AK, think you have it nicely set up there

I'm not a SAHM but only work 2 days a week. Both of our wages get payed into a joint account. H transfers what money needs to be transferred then we both use that account.

We have one account, two cards. We rarely spend without consulting with one another.
