So the fact that my children will be home in three hours prompted me to pull my finger out and start building the Ikea furniture.
I lad it all out in the room it is to go in, that started to read the instructions. Firstly it states that the item must be attached to the wall, but does not include these fittings. Bugger I though they had to incldue these fittings now? Secondly it states you have to build it in a room with a carpet to protect the edges. Well the room I've set it out in doesn't have a carpet, but it has vinyl(I think, wipe clean stuff?). Thirdly it states it take two people to build it. ARRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGHHH. I'm on my own.
So shall I just go ahead for now? I'll get the fittings to attach to the wall tomorrow, but where am I going to get a second person? FFS.

I built a bathroom tall boy thing alone, that also said it was a two person job and I should use a carpeted surface. Well I did neither and still managed it!

Do it. If worried about damage, could you put a bit cardboard, rug or blanket under the area you are building in?

Right well the room was barely big enough to build it in, but hey ho... Know why it takes two people to build it... it's so heavy. Final bit, last two screws, can't get them in. Arrgggh!

Have built it - just need to attach it to the wall now. It's very wobbly unlike the one int he shop that was free standing - how did they do that? The other one is def not going to get finished/started before the kids get home Never mind I had visions of having it all finished and tidied away with tea on the table when they got home. Not going to happen, might have done if I'd started at one when it arrived!

All our ikea stuff said attach to wall but we haven't. We've never attached furniture to a wall?! Unless you think it really needs it..
