I asked for some help whilst in Toys R Us yesterday and was told that the Leapreader is compatible with the all TAG and Leapreader books. It's not clear on the packaging but they all work together once you've downloaded the audio content to the pen.
So Louie has these which should all work together with the pen

Ah thanks Belle! So the tag junior books I've bought for my youngest should be compatible with A's leapreader too? That would be great! I ordered A 4 leapreader books from Argos a couple of weeks ago, was a fab deal, but they are so complicated, 2 of them are ok and what I wanted, the other 2 are age 5-8 so far too old for her really (she was 3 in August and is struggling with recognising letters) so I'm thinking of holding back those 2 until her birthday next August when hopefully she'll get it better and buy 2 other of the slightly younger books (age 4-7). So how many books have you bought for L in total? A has got 4 currently and M who I've bought the leapfrog tag junior also has 4. I'm thinking that's probably enough to get them started?

I've got A the toystory one like you've listed but worry it'll be too old for her, the others are Tinkerbelle, Princess and the Pea and The Little Mermaid ones.

Basically yes, all the books you have should work with A's pen.
They aren't learning books imo they are about listening to the story and doing the games (have you used any at all?) so I'd just give her the ones you've bought save buying more. In total he has 3 books - the ones listed above - and 4 or 5 audio stories on the pen.

Oh do you think they'll be ok then? I could do without spending any more money needlessly but I worried she'd lose interest because she couldn't manage them. No I've never used one of these pens and A's is still in it's wrapper, we'll have to get it out and sorted before Christmas (have bought quite a bit of leapfrog stuff and there is quite a bit of work to do with it before you can give it to the child!) How do you get the audio stories on the pen?

It's really simple, for every book you buy you need to download the audio bit for the pen. Download it via Leapfrog website and just connect via the usb, doesn't take long at all and the pen talks to you and tells you what to do. It even tells you when it needs charging.
When you touch the pen to the page you have different options to either read the story, do phonics or play a game. L tends to play games so it's find the missing something or other, or count how many of something there are.

Thanks, that does sound great! My 6 year old saw this advertised on the tv and said she wanted one for Christmas the other day so I think there'll be a fight for it on Christmas day!

Awww that's what Christmas is all about! ha!
