Grrrr need to get this out and get some perspective!
My mum and stepdad never really look after my kids. Both of my brothers have kids Little bro has one who is 18 months old, eldest brother has 2 - 1 is 13 and the other is 9.
To give you an idea, E is 5.5 and mum has had her 3 times overnight, and has had both of them overnight once, this time last year for H's work do.
So this year we asked in June if she could do the same, have both overnight next weekend. Its always a big hoo haa, better ask stepdad etc, but yes they agreed. I said we wanted to make the most of a night away together and will be going lunchtime sat and back by 11ish sun morning, so not rushing but not taking the pee, she agreed begrudgingly. Now she tells me they have invited my 9 year old niece over that night too to give my brother and his g/f a break and a night alone. This brother and his missus go out about 2 times a month and have babysitters on tap.
I;m peed off that she cant just have my two and spend quality time with them just once, IKIABU but I bet she moans to me how tired she is, how much hard work it is.

That would pee me off too. does your brother live closer or maybe as the kids are older they can be left to their own devices? my mum has never had any of her grandkids over night. in fact she's never had them for an hour to take them to the park. fooks me right off how she plays the perfect nanny to her mates.
Yeah it is a bit sh!t the way they go about it but will your two maybe be excited that she will be there too? My two would be beside themselves if they were going for a sleepover with their cousins. At the end of the day at least you get your night out, try and disregard all the rest.

I know you are right and I should just suck it up, but my mum always contradicts herself, tells me how she doesn't want to always have a grandchild to look after, then the next breath how she hates not being asked - you cant fricking win!
E will love having C there, but it'll be harder for my mum!

Does she know my MIL?! This always happens to us. We had a wedding in June (last time we had a night away....even a night out) anyway MIL was looking after our 3 children. All of a sudden she was having SILs 3 children too. Knowing this was too much for her (she is always looking after SILs kids) we ended up having to separate our children. My brother helped out. Can't use him anymore as he is now in Oz. this is pretty much why we haven't had a night out since then.
