I am annoyed. Popped to the shops at lunch, a car was leaving as I got in to the car park but an elderly woman appeared and stood in the middle of the space. I asked her what she was doing, and she said waiting for her husband to park the car. Pointed out you can't reserve parking spaces like that, plus it was one way down that section so he wouldn't be able to come up there anyway so could she please move so I could park. She said no and hustled me on. There was another space at the end of the section to I bit my tongue and parked in that. Reversed out to straighten the car, checked I was clear then was just going back in and something hit the back of my car. I didn't know what had happened so I looked behind me and there's a car going down the wrong way with it's back bumper hanging off!
Yep, it was the woman's husband. He transpired to be 80-odd and didn't have a clue he'd hit me or that his bumper was dragging along the floor until he stopped. He did apologise and fortunately my car was just a bit scuffed and scratched up. I am fuming, but at the same time I feel a little bit sorry for the fella (not his wife though, who turned mechanic and told me that there was hardly any damage to my bumper). I have a Gramps nearly that age and I know he would be mortified if he did something like that; but if you can drive along oblivious to hitting something - or worse someone - else then you shouldn't be driving IMO.
Ah well it's in the hands of the insurer's now. I need gin!

I really had a bump the other day as someone went down a one way road the wrong way. It seems round here one way means whichever way you are going. Luckily you aren't hurt but I remember how shook up I was nothing actually happened so can imagine you need the gin!

QI I say that when I'm driving the wrong way down a one way
Shh hope there isn't too much damage and cost involved.

Nah it's not too bad, my insurance will cover any costs because it was a no fault incident. I got the details from a few people who were there watching with their mouths agape and the insurance people said they'd call them to confirm what happened, so am hoping that it won't be a problem. I just can't believe how daft people are sometimes!

You were good not to just start to reverse into the space with her in it and hope she shifted!!
Hope the gin goes down well.

Glad the damage isn't too bad but no wonder your fuming. You were very restrained with the old woman blocking the spot, I don't think I would of been as good as you.

Thing is the woman was his wife and if she hadn't been standing in that spot being a douche, he wouldn't have driven the wrong way up that bit of the car park and he wouldn't have hit me. Karma that is.
The insurance people have been in touch, they spoke to him and he's admitted hitting me; he reckons they can t-cut it out for me
