omg! After months of delays if waiting on paperwork etc iv finally handed in my notice . After 10.5 years I'm leaving A&E , iv hated asspects of my job for ages and been desperate to leave but now its hit me that I'm leaving and I'm bloody upset , iv been doing a load of nightshifts recently and whilst the nights have been horrific in terms of being SO busy, we have had some horrific cases and some funny cases but a lot if it has been propper A&E stuff which I love (ie not thing like 'I've had this pain a week and yes I could have seen my gp but didn't and I didn't take pain killers either'). And I'm really going to kiss everyone too .
Its the right thing for us though, better shifts, promotion and lots of new courses which will be great for my career but still, its like the end if an era

Must be hard when you've been somewhere so long and especially if you enjoy it - I'd feel the same if I left this place (been here over 11 years now although not sure I have the same enjoyment factor as you!), but I'm sure you'll get on great in your new job, and just think of all the benefits you'll be getting both for yourself and your family xxx
What is your new job going to be?

Dd its an advanced nurse practitioner post in primary care....so effectively all the people I send away from A&E telling them its more appropriate to see their gp, well I will be seeing those people , il he a nurse assessor for a year but will be studying towards the ANP role.

Aw I'm sure they are sad to see you go to. Exciting times ahead!

So that's the nurses that work at the GP practises? So in the first week you may well see some people you'd just sent packing from A&E in your last week there!

Must feel so very strange, but definitely sounds like exciting times ahead, and you will love the new hours!
Aw good luck. It's so upsetting leaving somewhere. Iv just had to change jobs after 9 years to allow me to work better hours so I can be with C, and even though its the best for us as a family I'm so bloody sad about it. And also so scared of going somewhere new. It felt like my second home where I was and I loved it. I just keep trying to think of the positives and it'll all be worth it in the end x

CP, remember how much you hate your current job, boss etc and the great opportunities in your new job. New courses that you can ask me about and better shifts
