What is the norm for a monthly gym membership & what is included in that price?

We get 50% discount at Virgin Active, I've just been for a look around and it's lovely! I'm not getting any time atm the exercise so a 20 / 30 / 45 min class around lunchtime is really tempting! But part of me wonders how long I'd keep it up.

I used to go to a Fitness First gym, which were generally cheaper than a lot of other gyms since they don't have a pool.  I think it cost about £35ish/month before I cancelled my membership (about 3.5 years ago), and that included use of the equipment at any time, all the classes, and use of the sauna and steam room.

Am envious of your 50% discount at virgin active - I pay full price for our one which is an eye watering £58 a month. Use of gym, all classes and pool/spa area all included but it's only worth it as I make sure to go at least 3 times a week.

The good thing about virgin active is that they do the fast classes so you can pop in on your lunch hour for a quick blast workout. I think that they also offer a scheme where you can use other clubs for an additional fee so if there is another club near you at home you could go weekends.

My gym is privately owned by a couple so its pretty cheap.  I pay £200 for the year and if you pay the £210 a week before the years membership runs out you get a month free so its £210 for 13 months.

I get to use all the gym equipment and go to the Body Blast/Body Pump classes which she does 3 times a week.

There's a new one opened up by us, it's £10 a month, there's no pool, but you've got unlimited use of all of the equipment/classes any time of the day.  No off-peak usage or anything like that.

That is very cheap though, the local council run one is £28 a month, that includes the pool/gym/sauna/steam room etc any time of the day and unlimited classes.

    Tell me about it!

One of the girls said at lunch that she uses it in the mornings as lunchtime is busy here in the office, so now I'm wondering how much use I'd get.

We have a joint membership at la fitness. Is about 113 per month, but h gets to use the London clubs too. We get gym, classes, swimming pool, jacuzzi, sauna, steam, squash courts and they have a nice restaurant too. The virgin active near us is around £75 individual membership here and you have to pay extra £10 per month to take your kids swimming, it does have a nice outdoor pool though.

Talking of London prices I used to pay 75 quid a month for what used to be Holmes place 10 years ago. I think virgin active bought them out. At that time there was a club close to my work which was 110 a month 10 years ago, ouch

I pay around 450 for the year. That includes swimming, gym, some classes (yoga, Pilates etc are extra but Zumba is included), and a toddler gym class 4 times a week. It has childcare but that is extra and 7 for the two children for an hour.
