I was looking after my nephew yesterday and him and J decided they would go and play in J's room. After about 15 mins of them being too quiet, I went up, I could smell it before I even went in the bedroom. They had got their hands on a tub of Vicks vapour rub and used it has hair gel
They were both covered, J more than D, the bedding was covered, his beanbag and one of the bedroom walls. J's hair is really thick and quite long and the Vicks will not come out. I've washed his hair 8 times and its not budging. He cried going into nursery today because he didn't want anyone to see his hair so the teacher has said he can keep his cap on.
I don't know what to do to get it out. Any ideas greatly appreciated.

Sorry, but that made me laugh. I bet your house stinks of it too.
Quick google suggests using washing up liquid as this will cut through the grease.

Cedar the whole house smelt of it but now its just J's room. I have seen the funny side after the shock of seeing them both.
Thanks twink, I'll try that tonight.
Belle, boys will be boys

I laughed too! I bet they had so much fun! Try washing his hair with shampoo when it is dry, rinsing and then scrubbing again.

I was going to suggest fairy liquid too. Report back SW!

Thankfully it's out. I followed twinks link and it worked a treat but took 4 washes with fairy up liquid, a wash with shampoo for greasy hair and a wash with Johnson's baby to get it all out. He's happier going to nursery this morning.
He keeps telling me he won't do it again because he doesn't want his hair washed loads of times, I think he's learnt his lesson for now

Oh bless him. I'm glad you've managed to get it out and he's learnt his lesson.

Ha, how did I miss this. Poor J, be that he won't do it again
