Can you lot help me please? I've got to dress up as something beginning with the letter L for a hen do in May. I'm not a fancy dress person. Has anyone got any ideas of what I can be/where I can get it from etc? On quite a tight budget too as it probably won't be used again!! I've thought of Lara Croft and Little Red Riding Hood but not sure how to create the look cheaply?? Thanks in advance.

Thanks CC. I don't want to look silly (I know I'm boring but I'm really self-conscious!) I wouldn't mind looking silly if all of us were dressing up as the same thing but we're not plus we're just going around the pubs of my (small) local town so everyone will know me lol. Grrr I am a spoilsport I know but I rarely go out and would much rather dress up and make myself look/feel better about myself than go out looking stupid! Never mind, once I've had a couple of drinks I won't care what I look like ha ha!

Do you think Primark would sell some shorts? I don't go shopping that often due to my children hating it so need to know where I'm buying stuff from! Thanks for your suggestions by the way, I know I'm miserable lol.

A landgirl - dungarees and a hanky on your head
A lifeguard - shorts and a tee-shirt
Sorry, I'm not great at these things.
I dressed my daughter as little red riding hood recently - use a cheap red fleece blanket to make a cloak and then add skirt and top, carry a basket if you have one.

How about a ladybird - red outfit with black spots and some of them boingy things (argh what are they called!) on your head.

Oooh nftfi thanks hadn't though of landgirl or life saver, both great ideas! What kind of skirt and top did your daughter wear as LRRH? I thought about ladybird but think it might be too hard for me (can't sew lol).

Sounds like a good plan :) Good luck

does Little red riding hood count?

Your welcome, when I dressed my daughter as LRRH she wore a red top and a flowery skirt there is a picture here mumdrum.com/.../16404.aspx. She's only 4 though, so it might not inspire you quite as much as your hoping, but I found once you had a red cape the rest of the outfit could have been almost any skirt/top.
If you ahve a red shirt that you don't want to keep you could draw black spots on it for a ladybird, or buy some black material and stick circles of it on with glue. Black trousers and deely boppers and there you go.
I think it depends how much effort you want to go too really. We want pictures when your ready you know :)

QI it took me a google search before I could think of anything beginning with L. Thanks AK great ideas although I couldn't pull off Lady Gaga. Monnie I think LRRH definitely counts!
Ah nftfi your daughter looks beautiful, I think I'm going to look into that one more. My mum might help me with a cape.
Thanks everyone yes there'll be a pic as a reward for your help!
