Just been given the details for my friends hen party in March. I need to pay £110 for activity/meal and hotel by 16th Jan, plus I need to book return train from Swindon to Birmingham (1 change) and find spending money for drinks, lunch and taxi. So not much left in the pot after Christmas for buying lots of new clothes. I'm not a big party person. In fact this will be my first night away from Luke and my husband since he was born (not counting the year he spent in hospital). Feeling excited but also very nervous. I've lost my confidence a bit in social situations. I've lost 1.5 stones since September on Slimming World so I'm bit in between sizes. Probably a 14 now, with flabby arms and deflated boobs!!! I have shoulder length, straight brown hair with a few face framing layers.
the arrangements are meet for cocktail making at 12pm at a bar on the Saturday, a few drinks and nibbles, check in hotel at 2pm, meal and comedy club in the evening. Check out hotel on Sunday morning. train home. I've got a little wheely case so hopefully that will be ok to take and fit everything in if I need to go straight to bar at 12pm.
any help for what is fashionable for the travelling/informal bit and night out bit would be great. Also how much spends would you buget for?

Get yourself some good skinny black jeans. If need be you can wear them in the day and at night too. They go with EVERYTHING. I'd get a nice top for day, smart casual, il have a look for ideas, and some cute ballet pumps, and a dressier one for night to wear with heels.

Second the skinny jeans idea. When you find some great non smelling black ones can you let me know?
I'd do skinny jeans, top & bicker jacket or blazer with shoe boots for the cocktail meal & nibbles thing. Then either change everything as no doubt they will stipulate some kind of dodgy dress or you can put on a frock, OR if it were me I'd change my top and bling, redo hair and go out in the jeans again

I hope there isn't a fancy dress code!
So are black trousers a bit old fashioned compared to black skinny jeans? I've got some tailored trousers from Monsoon straight leg nice fabric that I thought might be nice?

I wouldn't wear black trousers personally, but that is just me maybe.
What about leggings and a dress/tunic for later on? They are easy to pack

Tbh I wouldn't wear black trousers. I try and talk my mum out to wearing them and she loves black skinnies now. They're just so flattering and versatile if you get a good pair.

I'm loving the Eden jeggings in DPs - £23. I've got 3 pairs (brown, grey and black). They are not jeggings as you know them - they're proper material, very flattering and so comfy!
Do them in loads of colours
I've got a similar dilemma which I was going to post about! Hen do in Brighton but i'm only doing the day (treasure hunt, clay pigeon shooting, meal and drinks) - train leaves at 2149 so I need something suitable for day/evening!

GB what shoes do you wear with those jeggings? Your hen sounds like an active day!

I'm a knee boot girl with skinnys. They only thing about them is with them being jeggings style - they are more like leggings at the bottom.
I also have some jeggings from M&S in grey (think about £25?) - they're even more like jeans with front and back pockets and I have worn them with heals in the evening.
Lots of people on here say converse with skinnys - or ballet pumps?

So I found some nice jeggings in M&S. I liked the black or dark denim. Didn't buy them yet because I wonder what type of top to wear with them. Do you go with tunic (over the bum) style or fitted like the peplum tops? I'm a size 14 and tunic floatly styles sometimes seem to make me look heavier but not sure if a fitted style will make me self concious of my rear end and arms!
Also if i get black jeggings is it ok to wear a black top. I have a nice peter pan type collar necklace in silver that i thought would look nice.
Basically can you give me some links to nice tops????

I'd definitely go with peplum top and jeggings & the collar sounds bang on trend.. What shoes you thinking?
17/01/2013 at 10:33
top and jeggings in black? I was thinking heels for the night. there's a cheesy disco after the comedy finishes.
17/01/2013 at 10:35
Yep keep them both black especially the jeggings. The collar will bling it up a bit. Definitely shoes, no knee high boots. You got any patent courts? M&S sell loads in the Limited collection range, £19.50 and would set it all off lovely.

thank you. I will keep a look out. I took an unwanted gift back to m&S so have a credit voucher to spend there.
