We are staying in my friends dads appartment when we go on holiday. It has a canny size pool but I'm worried that the kids will get bored if there's no one else there and they can't make friends. Last time we went we were the only ones around the pool which is fine by me but I'm thinking they will get bored.
H has said we should just use another hotel's pool and if we find one with a nice pool bar happy days but if its an AI hotel we obviously couldn't use the bar because we wouldn't have a band but could we still use the pool? Or if we found a hotel that wasn't all inclusive no one would know would they?
Is it cheeky? We will go to the beach a few days but I much prefer the pool.

I wouldn't do that, no way. You'd just rock up with all your stuff and sit by the pool? Noooo.
TBH I think the kids would keep themselves entertained and with you both there too. We've never had a problem. But is there maybe a public pool or waterpark instead?

Some hotels you are allowed to use but I would depend on the hotel obviously. I wouldn't just turn up no.

You see I think its cheeky but H doesn't think it is. I'd be too conscious that someone would ask me what I was doing there ha ha.
Belle we are going to go to the waterpark 2 of the days.

We've used different pools by paying for a day pass.
You could see if there is a more 'fun/busy' pool nearby you could paya supplement. I don't thin I. Could just use a pool though without staying but I'd play it by ear until you get there

That's what I'd think. People get to know their pool don't they. We all people watch, we know who is on what sun lounger etc, which kids are the horrible creamy ones, who the pissheads are.....you'd stand out.

I don't think you could do this. I think they'd know you weren't residents.
I could never do it, could you imagine being asked to leave.
Surely the kids will be fine by the pool, even better if they have it to themselves, you could all get inflatables and have a mess around and be rowdy without having to watch out for other people.
Maybe the hotels have day passes??

Nooooooooooooooo SW, don't do it! Go to the beach

MM What's a holiday snob?
13/06/2013 at 12:22
Yeah I love a good holiday too. I'm not a snob about it though, can't afford to be. But been to some amazing places.

Eh? what's possibly unhappiness? Hey if yougot the dollars to spend then do it that's my motto. Sadly it costs a small mortgage now we've got 3 kids full time - still we've been places and will have our bolt hole soon.

It would depend where we are, for example in Dubai and the Caribbean alot of the hotels are set up for local residents (ok, generally ex pats) to use the pool and you just get a day pass. I would do that. Tbh I couldn't be bothered with the faff of packing all the stuff and going to another pool, one of the key things for me is that we can easily get between room & pool so we can pop back for stuff which we inevitably forget it.
13/06/2013 at 14:46
Totally agree JB, I can't be ar$ed to faff about going somewhere else but H keeps waffling on about it, I'll have to put my foot down or tell him to take the kids somewhere and I'll enjoy the peace around our own pool
I'm sure the kids will be happy at our own pool or the beach. Well they best be anyway
13/06/2013 at 14:52
How can two kids not be happy in their own pool? Honestly! Your mate probably has a load of inflatables anyway, but some squirters and they are good to go. If E is anything like the girls she'll spend half the afternoons inside watching MTV
13/06/2013 at 15:12
Belle, I think they'll be happy as well, its H just waffling on. Both of mine like to get out of the sun for a bit anyway and watch telly or play on phone/tablet/ds.

O mm we used to be holiday snobs too, I remember being in an all inclusive and being shocked and peeved that the people next door were allowed to use the pool, then in another one where the locals were (they were eating in the pool it was disgusting!)
