S needs to come out of her toddler bed and we've just had bunk beds delivered, so now we need a mattress for her.

Where do you start?  We want something that will last and is good quality, but not high price - sort of mid range I guess.

    Any recs?

I am tried various mattresses out and chose one that I found comfy. I think it was £100 - which I'm not sure if that is a lot or not but it is a foam based one that is really comfy. The one that the store were recommending which was £39 felt like a bag of metal springs which it basically was.

About £100 would be great.  Where did you buy from QI?

It sounds mental that they are a carpet shop and we got beds and mattresses there but we had gone to a bed shop next door and the guy was trying to push this nasty mattress at £39 - his attitude was well it is just a child sleeping on it, erm yeah so why the feck should they be uncomfortable???

It shouldn't!  I've just realised about top bunk mattressess being different to bottom ones - they have to be shallower.  Hmmmm. back to drawing board, as we have one good single mattress that Jack already has that can go on bottom bunk, so we need a top bunk one.

We got a cheaper one, E is only two and will be going through potty training and stuff, so i didn't see the point in spending too much just yet because she'd only probably wet it and stuff when we were potty training her.  If it only last 3/4 years then i don't mind as we didn't pay much.

Thanks chids.  I think we've found one.  As it's a top bunk one, I don't think we will be using it for more than a few years either, because then we will be splitting it into 2 single beds when we've done the upstairs extension, so will then need a proper single mattress.  We've found one for £99 that we're happy with, so now I'm ebaying like mad so we can pay for it, plus the new duvet and bedding that we will need!

My boys have these www.ikea.com/.../50156584 and they seem really comfy.  We have the same on both the top and bottom bunks.
