What about animal rescue centre? if you just explain the situation i am sure they will be able to help you or tell you what to do if they can't take the dog in?!

Dogs Trust or RSPCA come straight to mind but google your area plus dog rehoming centres.

Unless you take it to the police as a lost dog I doubt very much you will get rid of it today to a rehoming place like the RSPCA/battersea. We waited two months to get the cat rehomed and we told them our reason was that C was allergic. Is it chipped or traceable to you or SD??

Do you mean cross Pomeranian?
I think Munchkin is right, I'm not sure if animal rescue centres just take them?
I know my vet will take animals and have them signed over to them but obviously no vets are open Sundays.
