Let your children drink? Me and my friends used to have a few drinks in each others houses from the affects of 15/16. It meant we didn't hang out on the streets drinking like others we knew, they would obviously know where we were and what we were drinking. I think it's a good approach, I'd key my boys drink in the house from earlier than allowed, would you?

Same as you QS.
I'd rather let my boys drink, than them do it in secret/on the street etc.

We were allowed a glass of wine, or a bit of wine and lemonade etc with meals probably from about 15/16. I would think i'll do the same.

Same as you. I used to drink in the house but also on the streets and I know what we used to get up to so I'd rather keep an eye on my kids.

The girls drink with us now. Well not every night but at Christmas for example K had a box of VK drinks which she had one or two a night. G was doing shots with me in the IoW and we've got her wine to take to parties she's been to. They used to have babycham at Christmas from the age of about 7/8 - just a glass. I think you need to show children how to drink responsibly (ignore my shots comment above!) so they don't go out and get lashed.

I'd let them try a v.small sip as soon as they asked for it, it tastes horrible to a young child so would put them off for a while! Then would let them have a small watered-down glass on special occasions (new year's, weddings etc) from about 11-13 depending on maturity and if they asked (I wouldn't offer). I'd let them have a glass of wine or a small weak beer from about 14 onwards with a meal, but not all the time, just if we were out or had people round. My parents did similar with us.

That's exactly it bell, I think it's all about making it except able and sociable not sneaking about being dangerous. Don't get me wrong I remember the first time I was drunk I was with my folks....but at least they knew where I was!

Probably from 15 at home, just beer or wine.
Saisi I'm afraid some children do like the taste of it, N is always asking for a sip of beer and loves the taste when he dips his finger in it
