H is actually due to hand in his notice this week as he has a new job starting in January. He booked a day off in December for Joshua's nativity play - first one at school and he has lines! - and then his company decided they were having a team building day that day which everyone had to attend, so he was told to cancel the day off. He's refused and told them why he wants the day, but they are still just telling him he has to cancel.
So he went in all armed today to hand his notice in and tell them where they could stick their team building day and he's been sent out of the office to do some testing at another site so it now needs to wait until tomorrow! He just wants to get it done now. It's such a shame, they've been a great company to work for until now and very family friendly but with this and a very unpopular restructure I don't think he'll be the last out of the door

That sucks. Is there some kind of legislation that if a holiday has been approved it can't be revoked?

Surely you don't need to do team building if you're leaving??! Why can't they have some sense. My company actually bans you from any training once you've resigned.
If I was him I'd just phone in sick that day but what a shame he has to do that :-(
