were building an extension which will be Es room. It will be decorated and all new furniture from scratch.
I cant make my mind up on how to decorate.
I love wall paper murals but its £200 ish
I would like to go for either white or oak furniture.
But I also like the idea of either pale pink or blue walls.
But then I also love the shabby chic, bunting type look like this

I can't find a Sticker like that tree anywhere.

I am no use as I love them all. I suppose, think what will last the longest and is an acceptable price to pay over that many years. I will be doing the same for a 3 year old at the end of the year and think I will going down wall sticker route. This was before I saw that ridiculously great castle wallpaper though .....

You could easily paint that tree on though...

I love the first one. It makes me feel warm and fuzzy so I imagine it would be amazing for a little girl.

I love the wall paper. Actually, I WANT that wall paper.

What would you put with the wall paper though?
Pale pink walls?
What colour curtains/ blind.
I'm so rubbish with all this.
I do LOVE the wall paper but £200 for wall paper seems a lot :(

Pale pink walls would work, along with white furniture. It'd look very girly.
£200 is alot for wallpaper, especially as she's so young, and might pick at it. My nephews were litle buggers for peeling the wallpaper off in their room. So the stickers might be a better idea. Loads of that shabby chic about, so you'd be able to do it easily.

OMG Im so glad i have a boy. The first pictures are awful. I actually heaved! Shabby Chic gets my vote.

The only warning I'd make about stickers was that my daughter and her little friend spent a happy afternoon peeling her peelable stickers off her walls. And spoiling them. Which wasn't a massive problem as we planned to redecorate anyway.
I'd not go for something too girly or pink myself as you want something that will last and grow with her. We painted my daughter's room with one pink wall and the rest white when she was four as I felt it made it too pink otherwise. She chose the colour and was pleased. We can then add and change pictures as she gets older (actually she'd like green walls now!).
I wouldn't spend £200 on wallpaper for a child's room whatever it had on it. But do think that picture would made a room quite dark so would depend on where the light comes from.

I really like the tree one! I think that is the only one that will be timeless and not outdated as she gets older.

i really dont like the first two. the first one makes me feel a bit queasy. and i certainly couldn't justify paying £200 for it.
I would go with the shabby chic & bunting

The design of the first one is amazing but I'd worry it would be bit dark! I love the tree one and shabby chic look. My daughter is 4 and she peeled her stickers off, it was a castle with Some horses, trees and princesses and I think she thought it was a Pin the tail on the donkey type game or something! I love white furniture for a girl's room too!

I don't like the first one at all. The shabby chic 3rd one definitely gets my vote, its calm and cosy and conducive to sleep, which is what a
Bedroom should be.

As much as I love the first one I'm going to go for shabby chic! I'm thinking long term and cost etc.
Thanks all :)

Good decision, it's more easily adaptable as she gets older and wants to change things as well! That first wallpaper is definitely an all or nothing one!
18/03/2013 at 17:21
Yes, I can definitely see my nearly 6 year old deciding she doesn't like the first wallpaper and then its so dominating that it would be hard to ignore.
Plus I caught her drawing on the wall the other week. Now on a white painted wall that is irritating but if she did it on wallpaper costing £200...!

Very late but agree with the third one. For me it is the last longer thing which would be important
