He was walking around our cul de sac as if he was looking for something.. So I asked if he was ok. He couldn't speak very well, as in I couldn't make out any of it. He showed me a card and it said a residential home in Northfleet, the next sort of town away. I asked if he wanted me to call someone or if I could do anything but he was just persistently saying no, no.
now I'm thinking has he escaped? Should I have done more? This is a terrible thing to say as he was just an elderly gentleman, but I don't trust anyone.
i feel bad now he could be lost..

You could phone the home and see if they have had any one escape.
(I do mean "escape" as a joke btw)

Ha ha. I thought about that. I can't quite remember what one, although I saw his name was Paul

Can you phone them? Maybe he's a wanderer and they give him the card incase he goes walkabouts. I'd phone, ask if they are missing anyone and give details

My first thought would be that he has 'escaped' too and would phone the home if you can.

If you can remember the name of the home, I'd call them and let them know you saw him. If he has got out by accident, at least it'll give them something to go on.
My mum and sister used to work in a nursing home. I had to call in to see my mum one day and an old lady was having trouble with the front door, so I helped her with it.
Fast forwad to that night, I was at my mum's house and my sister came in. My mum started to tell her all the drama about how Mrs X had gone missing, and no-one knew how she managed to get out, and the police were called and she was eventually found wandering near a dual carriage way et etc etc
Oh the shame!! My mum was horrified that it was me that had let her out! But I had NO idea the doors were double locked the way they were for a reason! I just assumed that the residents were elderly but they were still adults and could come and go as they pleased. Poor old lady had some sort of severe dementia or something.

Did you manage to find a number of a care home? You could try here www.carehome.co.uk/care_search.cfmor even the police. If he was lost they would have called the police. It not unusual to find lost people a fair way. H's nan used to get on buses because she wanted to find her way to her own home, as did my sisters mil.

Did anything come of this? My Nan managed to 'escape' (what other word to use?!) her nursing home and we were frantic with worry because she had dementia.

It sounds like the man was very confused. I'd be ringing the home for sure. I hope he is safe x

Sorry ladies its, been a hectic day!!
So I went back straight after to see if I could find him and he had literally disappeared. I spoke to my neighbour though and she seems to think he does have family around here, when u had described him, she said she had seen him too. I really hope he's ok, it's been playing on my mind.
The thing is I didn't get the name of the place he can from an there are loads aroun here.
