On Sunday at 15.45 saying
We're going to have a BBQ about 3 on Sat (weather permitting) if you would like to join us? xxx
Would you reply?
02/07/2013 at 14:55
Haha, I know what you're saying. It's about 50/50 whether I would or wouldn't. If you'd written 'please let me know' I would of course. The way it's worded I would think it was just a drop in thing. Could be just me that's rude though.

Yes I would, I'd have probably put in the text to let me know, but surely that's what the question mark is for. x
02/07/2013 at 14:57
I'd reply but can see why people wouldn't feel they have to.
02/07/2013 at 14:59
Agree with the others. I personally would reply but I bet some wouldn't feel they needed to.
02/07/2013 at 15:00
I would reply. The question mark makes it an invitation.
I sent it out to 10 people, 7 replied. I would always reply. I might post a Passive Aggressive FB status

Yes I would reply, Like they have said the question mark makes it an invitation :)

Right, you are all alllowed to come then. The people that have not replied will get nothing and their kids can starve and watch all the other children eating ice lollies
02/07/2013 at 15:18
Haha Sounds fair too me lol!
02/07/2013 at 15:20
I'd have replied. It's only polite to do so.
02/07/2013 at 15:30
It is isn't it Chids, I am getting the rage more and more I think about it lol. I have ordered food for the numbers of them coming, that is 6 people and 5 kids and a baby. I am going to lock the door and not let them in!
02/07/2013 at 15:31
Yes I'd reply and ask what would you like us to bring...
02/07/2013 at 15:33
and I would say nothing thanks WS, you can come
02/07/2013 at 16:12
Why wouldn't you reply either way, how rude!!
02/07/2013 at 16:33
When I get texts like that, I always reply. It's common courtesy.
02/07/2013 at 22:14
I'd probably read it, think "hmm need to check what we're doing" then forget to reply!
02/07/2013 at 22:33
I would reply too, it's polite too.
02/07/2013 at 23:14
Question mark implies an answer is required, even if the text is not worded as a question, so yes, should definitely get a reply to that.

I don't understand why you wouldn't reply. But then seeing as people don't seem to be able to reply to a lovely shiny invitation to a child's party these days either I suppose some won't reply to a text.
I would have thought it was obvious you'd need to know whether I was coming so you could get in the food/drinks.
My top tip would be make sure you've got the BBQ put together before the first guests arrive. We went to one last weekend and they had a new BBQ - hadn't realised that it takes 2 hours!! to put together. Never mind getting it lit!
We did have a lovely time but it did cause the hosts a lot of stress.
