We are going to a little village called Sleight near Whitby... so in theory a day at Whitby, a day at Robin's Hood Bay and a visit to Staithes to where Salty Jack is filmed, which Ursula is exceptionally excited about!
I am more worried about food mroe than anything else. I had been collecting foor each week shen I went shopping, but now it is nearly all rubbish because it a stuff with wheat in it

I can send you my packing list from when we went down south the other week if you like?
Not sure where you'd start about food! Get a tesco shop delivered?

I doubt there will be anythign other than a tiny cube of a freezer so most stuff would be out the window freezer wise and if not then I can bung it in the car okay.
WE that would be helpful cheers

Can you arrange an online shop to be delivered to the place for just after you arrive? That's what we always do when we go self catering in the UK

Do you have a cool bag/ box? taking yur lunches with you will help with budget and cut stress wih allergies/ intolerances
Remeber kids will just love being some where new so don't feel like you have to do a big activity everyday
remeber its your holiday to even if self catering plan in some meals with left overs that can be used for lunch or the following night so you get some break from day to day chores

Online shop if you can - but check if they will let you as some cottage owners don't allow them due to access problems.
We normally take a few basics from home and either do a shop on the way or online delivery. If you have a dishwasher at home and where you are going, take a few tablets with you so that you don't have to buy. Often things like that are either supplied or left over from previous people.
I'd wait and see what the weather is doing just before you go. We're off to the Channel Islands in two weeks and at the moment don't know whether its going to be shorts and t shirts or wet weather stuff needed.
I'd plan the type of things you will be eating and buy these - so packed lunches stuff for when you are out and about. If you're planning to eat out look up possible places to eat online and see the kind of food options there are.
A week will go really quickly, don't try to fit too much in otherwise you'll all end up overtired. Look up wet weather options as well.
You'll have a lovely time and the good thing about going away in the UK is that if you forget something you can easily buy it when you're there.

Get each child a cheap exercise book or notebook. This is their holiday diary. Then everywhere you go each child gets to buy one postcard to stick in. Pick up copies of tourist leaflets with pictures too. Then each day they can do a picture or write something about what they've done that day. This is a useful pre bedtime activity which they can get on with while you're doing chores.
