If you we're to inherit £10,000 what would you do with it?
02/04/2013 at 21:52
Home improvements most likely and maybe put a little by

A nice holiday, make sure I bought a keepsake with it, and probably spend some on the house, and save anything that's left.

Weirdly my dad has recently. He bought himself and my mum a keepsake watch. The rest will be put away for maybe helping to start a new business

He also gave me and my 3 sisters a small gift of money, which was nice

I inherited from my Grandmother and put it all into our deposit for a house. I had plenty of keepsakes from her home to remember her by and it was nice to be able to get a bigger house because of her (although I'd rather have had a smaller house and my Grandmother alive of course!)

I had an inheritance last year, used a big chunk to pay off some debt, put some away to put towards a deposit for a house when the time comes, and used the rest to pay some urgent bills and buy our double buggy.

Pay any debts off.
Put some in each of my boys savings accounts.
Save the rest.

£10k would go straight into our property fund for our place in Cape Verde.
if we didn't have that to pay for I'd clear my debts so that I'd be debt free and better off every month plus go shopping and buy some lovely things for us all.

I'd by a keepsake to remind me of the person that had died, and possibly a few bits for the baby, but the large majority of it would be a chunk off the mortgage. Reducing our monthly payments would be a big help!

I'd split it, i'd put half into home improvements, and half into a holiday to Florida.

It would most likely go straight into our 'forever home' deposit but if we already had a house then an amazing holiday or two!

It would go in our savings towards a deposit on a house!

I wouldn't collect it until I was divorced and then put it toward the house or payign off debts from the divorce.

I'd pay a chunk off the mortgage which would make us a little bit better off each month.

Lots of ideas here, thanks

Normally I'd say pay it off the mortgage but seeings as we are about to spend about that much on a new car it would have to be that!

Buy H a new (to him) car. Then a holiday too if possible. Probably put at least half towards our new house though.
03/04/2013 at 21:14
stright into the house deposit fund with a bit taken out and put into savings accounts for children
03/04/2013 at 21:53
I would use some of it to do the renovation work that needs doing on our house (doing the jobs very very slowly as money allows at the moment) and the rest would go into savings account for our future family (if it happens)
