it's my gran's 90th bday on thursday. the plan had been for myself and C, my mum, and my aunt to take my gran for a swanky lunch at a nearby restaurant, however my aunt now can't make it.
the plans are now to take my gran out for the day, with afternoon tea back at my aunt's after school, so about 4ish. need inspiration for somewhere that we can take my gran - not too much walking involved (although she's spritely, she still is 90, plus i'm only really waddling at the moment....), suitable for all generations (C will be coming with us) and within 45mins drive of bromley.

Are there any national trust type places near you? A little bit of a walk, stuff to look at, tea shop and possibly some swings for C?

Any big garden centres, with a cafe for lunch? A local park, would she like a museum or gallery? All else fails, pub with a kids park?!

I'm not sure what exactly but Greenwich would be lovely and not too far from Bromley? Alternatively a nice lunch in Chislehurst, take C to feed the ducks at the lake and a browse of the little shops there? Chislehurst isn't huge after all, so you won't have far to walk.
Either that, or somewhere like Knole House, Ightham Mote or Leeds Castle? Nice buildings, tea rooms, little walk, places for C to see wildlife/ducks?

PS. Yes, it is all about the ducks here at the moment....O thinks they are HILARIOUS! Anything that gives him the giggles gets my vote!

thanks all - some great suggestions.
giddy, had already considered a NT property but most are closed over winter, though have found one not too far away that is open (red house in bexleyheath - never been there). will also have a look at chartwell as we've been there quite a bit with my gran - we had a tea there for her 50th wedding anniversary, plus i worked there after my a-levels!
QS, a garden centre not too far from us is our back up plan.
coco, hmm, lunch in chislehurst, not bad - might suggest to mum. will only take 10 mins from her house. and C is ALL about cats. every animal is a cat. a bird is a cat. a dog is a cat. sometimes even i am a cat.
