Well technically she's not 9 until next month.
She used to go to bed at 9pm until a few months ago but she was still awake when I was going to bed, sometimes at 11pm, so I stopped her watching telly in bed and made her bedtime earlier so she now reads but I'm starting to think 8pm might be a bit early. What do you think?
I'm thinking of moving it to say 8.30pm and see how we go.

Er no! I remember going at 8pm up to year 6 (11 years old) and once at big school it was 9pm, 10pm at a push if i needed to do last minute homework etc. And my parents were always super laid back with us.
I would say bed at 8-8.30 and read for an hour or so x

It depends on the child I guess. My niece is 9 almost 10 and shes allowed to go to bed when she wants to. She is a moody tired mare though, so she definately needs more sleep.

At that age you still need roughly 12 hours sleep a night, so work back from the time she gets up in the morning and that will give you a rough idea of when she should go to bed.

1stbaby she isn't moody and never seems tired.
QI she gets up at 7am but 7pm is too early for her.

If she doesn't need as much sleep as others then maybe move it to 8.30pm after her birthday.
K's bedtime was 8.30pm until she started secondary then it went to 9pm. She's now in year 8 & goes still at 9pm, much to her annoyance.

Belle she definitely takes after her dad and doesn't need as much sleep as me.

E is 8 on Sunday and she still goes to bed at 7.30-8pm. She is a good sleeper though and does generally have 12hrs sleep.

I would say maybe 8.30 as long as it does not affect her moods. Lauren goes to bed at 9, lights out and phones off at 10 and she is nearly 15

Thanks for the opinions ladies. Last night we put it back to 8.30 but told her any messing after that then it would go back to 8 and it seemed to work, I checked on her at 9.15 and she was fast asleep.
