We have 100s books sitting around making the house look untidy - is it worth selling them (and if so, where's the best place to sell them?) or just take them to the charity shop?
Please don't tell me to do a car boot...

Do you use a local selling page on FB? Just take a pic and list them and people will collect them. Its an easy way to sell stuff. x
Think it depends on the kind of book. My H buys football reference books from Abebooks but has never tried to sell any. If there's a market somewhere for chick lit I could make a fortune so shall keep an eye on.this

You can sell them on Ebay but I like www.greenmetropolis.co.uk as you get a guaranteed price.

I do think it depends on the type of book. I had huge success selling off my books from uni (Philosophy 'text' books, i.e. collections of articles etc). They were all big fat books rather than the cheap paperbacks. I sold them on Amazon Marketplace and tended to get quite high prices for each one (about £15 each when they were £20 brand new). The only thing with that is that Amazon will not let you charge more than £2.50 postage, and since these were heavy books they often cost more to post, so you have to factor that in. I was a bit cheeky and would price them at 1p cheaper than the cheapest copy on there and they sold quickly.
Other books, like normal paperback novels etc, I wouldn't even bother. You can buy used books on eBay/Amazon for 1p plus 99p postage, it doesn't seem worth it. I'd just give them to charity if I wanted to get rid.

BoB, I'll have a look at that site thanks. KS, we've got quite a variety really. Off the top of my head, Lee Child, Andy McDermott, Linwood Barclay, Tess Gerritsen.

Have you got a cash for clothes near you? I know our local one buys books by weight. It doesn't pay much, but if you have alot and don't have to drive too far it might be an option.

We also have hundreds of books - I'm thinking of taking to a boot fair!
