Has anyone been to Italy (with kids)? Where would you recommend? thanks

We went to Lake Garda and had a lovely time.
One thing I would say, though, is that although our 4 year old was welcomed everywhere I did notice that not many restaurants had things like baby changing - I wasn't particularly looking for it and only realised that they weren't there when one place had one, if that makes sense - or child meals (but portions were big so on the whole a small child could share an adult meal). But those are things that can be worked round for babies and, as I say, most places were welcoming.
We didn't do a package trip by the way, where you might expect to have those kind of facilities provided.

I can't be the only person on here who has been to Italy with children surely
We did have a lovely day in Venice just pottering about looking at the buildings and eating ice cream. The ice cream is fab.
We didn't hire a car and used the ferries to go up and down the lake visiting other places. We caught the train to Venice which took a couple of hours (I think) so was just about doable with a four year old.

We went to Rome when my daughter was 3 months old. It was great as she was so small she slept a lot & we carried her in a sling so we saw all the main sites. Also if you have a baby with you you don't have to queue at the vatacian! I also noticed that there weren't many baby changing facilities, I changed her between a lot of sinks & 1 restaurant put 2 chairs next to each other & put a board on them for us to change her in the middle of the restaurant (it was lunchtime & it was quiet but still!!)
