I am thinking bout getting T's school inform together very soon and am wondering about shoes!
what kind has anyone else got? Where do you get them from? The only half decent ones I can find are kickers at £38. Am I mad at going for these?

I always buy F's shoes from clarks. She has to have black shoes/boots for school. They usually cost about £35!

That's around what we pay for my sons school shoes, he likes the black dinosaur ones in clarks
Not my choice but makes him happy!
Oh so £38 isn't far off then?! I used to have kicker when I was young at school and found them really comfy. Il have a look in Clarks too!

My daughter starts school in August as well, I've started looking at shoes in Clarks because of her mega skinny feet. Looks to be £30-40 for them :-(

I'll be buying C's from Clarks - fortunately he doesn't have to go in for any sessions until the second week of September so I plan to take him the first week of September when most of the other children have already gone back to school!
When does T start school Lauren? I always buy F's shoes in the 2/3 weeks before she starts school in case she has a sudden growth spurt!

Rapto fun niknak! Ha ha!
God they are expensive for what they are aren't they! £30-40 is about right then, thanks ladies x

Can't remember where you are but don't forget to check out a Clarks outlet if you have one nearby.

Lauren I know! I'm not a fan I must say but he loves them, got them in a khaki/brown too for wearing at weekends, oh the shame ;-)
I'm getting him converse for holidays and the raptos will be 'forgotten'

Defo Kickers. Peppermint in Dartford often has a sale on kick hi boots over the summer. Can he do laces yet? If not you'll need to be looking at the velcro fastening ones.
I am really tight, I usually get C's shoes in the sales (Clarks or M&S - M&S have a 20% off school wear offer on at the moment) or I go to The Outlet Centre in Ashford, there's a Clarks there. I don't think I've ever paid more than £20 for school shoes because he either outgrows them too quickly or wears a hole in the sole!
Ha ha, yes niknak show him the converse, he'll never look back. These kids do have their own little ideas though, it's cute x

i got Ls for £11 last year, they were clarks dinosaur ones, brantano do a sale over the summer with 40/50% off so i got them half price and then went via top cashback and it worked out at £11 for a £32 pair of shoes. hoping to do the same this year but i think brantano have already had a sale so not sure if i missed out as i didnt like any of the shoes on offer.
i have got all of Ls uniform except for the logo jumper and his shoes. keeping my eyes peeled for shoe sales

I paid £42 for C's first school shoes. Never again. I have never paid more than £15 for C's shoes since.
When he is running around the playground, they just get trashed. Now, he generally gets some from shoe zone/Matalan/Asda.
I'll be more willing to pay more, once he starts senior school, and isn't running around the playground.

No he can't do laces yet, def want Velcro for ease! Il have a look in peppermint weds when I take him to nursery x

That's good cp! You sound like a pro at this!
AK that's what I thought. If I can get them in a sale even better!

I HATE Clarks shoes, BUT they do last. Evie's first pair of school shoes were £38 but lasted her the entire year and they still looked immaculate. Other mums thought they would go for cheaper and ended up replacing them at least 2/3 times. Remember they are in them for such a long time and on their feet alot during the school day, so they have to be comfortable. I still hate clarks but they are getting better looking and the Outlet at chatham often have them for £18 x

Double check if the school has any rules about what is or isn't acceptable before you buy. Some schools have rules about flashing lights, trainer style shoes, other schools don't.
We've bought Clarks shoes so far. Last year we got through two pairs during the school year, this year she's managed to look after them a bit better and they will last the whole year (provided I keep sticking the straps together!). I have been polishing them carefully if not every night several times a week (which I've never done before) and I think that's helped them last.
I wouldn't buy now for September in case her feet grow. Clarks is manic in August but they do a booking system for fittings, so might be worth doing this. Last year we went early August thinking it would be quieter but it wasn't that quiet and the lady in the shop said it would only get worse!
