Ive asked this on hitched OT a while ago but seeing as its quiet I'll ask it again it here, seeing if I get any more info / different replies!
Has anyone had it?
Where did you have it?
Experience - Good or Bad?
Any handy hints & tips for aftercare?
Im booked with Optimax on Good Friday, have another consultation next Sat with another company for second opinion & price wise. But Im like 95% set for Good Friday - Im off work (my new job whoo!) for a week so its a really ideal time.
Stupidly / superficially Im worried about not being able to wash my face proper for a week (no water in eyes and with my acne etc) and also having to have someone wash my hair over the bath (everyday I was mine, its so lank & greasy!). Im not allowed any eye make up creams etc for 2 weeks so I can fake tan the night before then not again for 2 weeks,
I know these are minor but at the mo Im going 'Ew...Im going to be manky looking...'

Has anyone had it? I have, it was about 10 years ago now so all my information is a bit out of date
Where did you have it? Bupa, it was the only place local to me that offered it, and I didn't fancy some of the other cheaper places that were offering it at the time (a girl at work went to one of them and didn't have such a great experience, she had to have the redone, and also now wears glasses again) - I'd also heard of people who'd gone there to have it done successfully.
Experience - Good or Bad? Excellent, I was in a bit of pain the rest of the day after I'd had it done, but well worth it for being able to see pretty much perfectly the next morning! One of the best things I've ever spent my money on! I'm sure I didn't go a week without washing my hair in the shower, just very careful when I did. 10 years on I've had no problems and although my sight isn't completely perfect, I still don't need glasses.
Any handy hints & tips for aftercare? Just make sure you use the eye drops they give you, and follow any other instructions - nothing specific I can think of.

Well Im booked into Optimax which is prob the type of place your friend went to but a lot of people have recommended them to me. Ive heard awful things about optical express though. Im -1.75 in each eye with no complications - if I had a 'bad' perscription etc I wouldnt even be considering it!
I know there is a certain stigma against 'chains' but surely its no different to specsavers vs an independent optician? And Im kinda going by the theory of a chain that only does laser eye surgery knows it inside out whereas an independent clinic that does different procedures might not have the same surgical experience?

I had mine done at Ultralase about 7 years ago.
For the first 3-4 days my sight was terrible and it took nearlyy 2 weeks to achieve the minimum for driving standards. It was all very worrying. Afterwards it has turned out that they over corrected my sight. I could have had it re-done but by the time they agreed I was pregnant. They wouldn't do it while I was pregnant or breast feeding and by the time I had finished so much time had passed they couldn't just relift the flaps so i didn't have any correct.
Overall it was worth it but if I had my time again I would have done much more research about the actual person who did it and been less concerned about the fact it could be done on a Friday afternoon and more concerned about their personal sucess rates. I wouldn't have gone to a high street type brand but an eye specialist.
