Does anyone do this? We will definitely need to upgrade one of our cars at some point (probably soon - the yaris is already fit to bursting and elvis isn't even here yet....) but we don't really have any spare cash to just go buy another. Leasing a car is something I've never considered before, but after having a few thoughts about it, a new car sounds a really attractive as hopefully maintenance costs are lower, economy is better than older cars, we wont have to get a car MOTed for a few years, road tax is paid for etc etc - all stuff I really get annoyed at doing for older cars.
any experiences at all with leasing car? Pros/cons? Recommendations for companies?

My in laws always do their cars like this. I used to think it was pointless as it meant you never owned the car (well you could if you pay the balloon payment at the end) but my parents did it a couple of years ago on one and it was great. They got a brand new car so had nothing to worry about, a low deposit and low monthly payment then they just traded it in against a new car after the 3 years.

Yep i lease mine. Traded my old merc in as deposit and cos of the value we got a really good deal on a 6month old car. No tax for first year small monthly payment free servicing for 3 years. At end of term we either buy or trade in for newer model. Its the only way to get a new car imo. Nowt wrong with older cars my H is in the trade but he likes having a decent motor for us as a family and i bloody love it!

Only trouble now is we got nothing to upgrade too. We got the one down from an AMG so unless we get that next time I'll just be renewing the plate which seems pointless.

Thanks both. I haven't raised it with H yet as I know he's one of these people who will think that it's a waste of money as you don't own it at the end of the period, plus he will just say to me that I'm wanting something top of the range when we can't afford it - my thoughts are that it's potentially money saved on road tax, car maintenance and MOT costs. Pus I'm not wanting anything top of the range, I just want something a bit bigger!

We did back home and intend to do so again over here when I sell the BMW. We used Masterlease through the company we worked for and used to get very good deals. We'd sign up to a 3 or 4 year contract and if anything ever went wrong with the cars, it was a quick phone call to the company and they dealt with it for us. I also liked that they picked the cars up once the contract ended and delivered another shiny new car. There was so little hassle with it.

We lease one of ours (the family car) and own a fiesta. Much prefer how things are with the lease car, don't need to think about anything with it, the tax disc just arrives in the post when it's due, and if anything goes wrong then we just phone the company and they deal with it, even down to flat tyres etc. Takes all the hassle out of it, and means that if anything does go wrong then you have no unexpected finance problems! We lease ours through my work (NHS) but the actual company is Tusker. We've has cars with arval before and it was the same, can't recommend it enough!! Plus like WS, I like that when the contract is up, they come and take it away and deliver a nice new car!
