just wondered if anyone had seen any nice pictures of living room recently... was googling last night for hours but can't seem to find any good sites!
Our lounge currently looks like the green 1970's monster threw up on it, we've done the rest of the house so this is last bit to be done. Thinking greys and redswith magnolia type walls and possible a focal wall with wall paper. Oak laminate flooring. We already have a black glass TV cabinets, so not sure whether the rest of furniture should match that or if we can get away with some wooden bits. I'm rubbish at this decorating lark and having trouble visualising this room!

Maybe decide on a focal point, whether its the wallpapered wall, a picture, sofa etc and tie things in with it. Whatever colour you go for as a main colour, for example red wall, then accessorise with your second colour with the cushions, curtains etc. I would always look for a feature wall covering first whether it was paper or paint and go from there x

My living room is black/greys. I have a focal wall which has black and grey flock wallpaper on it. I have black furniture, black sofas and black curtains. I have a grey carpet and silver accessories like candles, lamps and photo frames and cushions.
I knew I wanted a black settee so just went from there with everything else.

I have a black glass TV stand and very dark brown chunky wood furniture. I also have creamy walls and a feature wall with huge red flowers. The accessories are all red with bit of purple. Sounds odd but it works. Will try and get a pic of mine but it's this sort of colour scheme -

i got lots of inspiration from www.housetohome.co.uk
Ours is a stripped wooden floor (we hired a sander and matt varnished the boards) Most walls are cream, but the alcoves either side of the fireplace are a bluey (not pinky) lilac. We've put a log burning stove in and have purple striped cushions on the sofa. It's not finished, but coming along nicely. I wanted lilac and grey really, but hubs said it would be too cold. I'm inclined to think he's right now annoyingly.

ah thanks everyone that is really useful! We found 2 wall papers we like so can start from there, also getting the floor today so at least we can go from there, really useful picture LP. and I'm off to check that website now pombear. Unfortnatly we will have to laminate as only a concrete base!

Have you got a next home catalogue? The rooms are set out in colour schemes, gives you a really good idea

Grey is bang on trend and my personal favourite :-)
It looks great with most colours so red would work well. Go carefully with the flowery wall-papers that are everywhere right now though as you could end up looking a bit 'boudoir'.
I find Good Homes magazine on-line and in print) a great resource as it's not too up-its-own-backside.

I do love grey, hubs let me have it in the spare room, which is now pale yellow and grey, our wedding colours.
