Anyone been? Are they chaotic? The plan is to go on Sunday and take the children. S will be in his pushchair? Would we be better of trying to leave them with my parents? Although after they'd have them this week I aren't sure they'd be too keen to have them for the day on Sunday too.

Ok, please bear in mind I'm total bah humbug! But omg! they are awful! I hate them and now refuse to go. SOOOOOO busy especially weekends, vastly overpriced stuff, no where really to sit if you are having a drink, a push chair would be a nightmare. Its all crap there anyway that they are selling, vastly overpriced too!
If you are coming to manc then maybe try the ice rink at spinning fields, I'm not a skater at all but even I managed it and its very Christmassy, there's winter wonderland which us vvv expensive but apparently not crowded as its all appointments iyswim.

CP - you're not filling me with Christmas joy!! I'm worried now. We're going with another couple, we're going for the Christmas markets, tbh, I aren't bothered about buying much, more just soaking up the mulled wine. E and S I think are too young for ice skating, and tbh, it's my idea of hell.
Hmmm, might sound mum and dad out for baby sitting duties and see what they say.

If you go early then have a look round, loads of people love them though don't worry, I just like being able to sit with my drink lol

Will perhaps get the earlier train then, get in and get out asap.

I would really strongly recommend you try and get childcare, particularly at weekends as it is so packed you a re literally shuffling along and i personally think it's madness to go with a pushchair! Not only is it a total pita to get round but quite overwhelming for kids down at that level i think, i get claustrophobic there as it is so i really feel for little ones. I've just been this morning and it was hell on earth. Weekends are horrendous x

We aren't selling it are we
What about a nice pub lunch up here? There's James martins restaurant which is very affordable and looks fab! You could go through the Xmas market on your way, drink your mulled wine then straight to restaurant?
My work suggested the Xmas market for our Xmas do ! I nipped that in the bud we are off to a Chinese karaoke bar instead

Nope, you're not selling it at all. The couple that we're going with aren't much help either. She was saying that when her mum was there last Saturday there was a guy with a pushchair, and then a man in front of him with a bell moving people out of the way so that they could get through with the pushchair. Might just give it up as a bad idea.

To be honest I think they're one of those things that seem like a great idea but just aren't once you're there! Just too much hassle and there's no way you can enjoy it at a weekend with massive queues for everything and nowhere to sit. I go every year as I collect russian dolls and get a new one for my birthday every year from there, but now i always go in the day on a week day.

We've given it up as a bad idea. The girl of the couple we were going with is 12 weeks pregnant at the moment, and puking every few minutes, so now she doesn't even know if she wants to go.
Oh well, I think we're going to go and visit H's grandparents instead.
